NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/14/23

I had a great night on the last huge slate of the NHL regular season yesterday, keeping my hot streak going as I went 10-2 to win 4.64 units. Tonight we close out the season with the make-up dates of two postponed games to end the regular season. Let’s finish it with winners.

Blue Jackets vs. Sabres (7:30)

Last night the Sabres beat the Senators 4-3 at home in overtime with a fantastic send off for Craig Anderson’s last game of his career. Despite missing the playoffs this was a great year for the Sabres. The Blue Jackets on the other hand are right in the Bedard sweepstakes but coming off a surprising win in Pittsburgh last night. I broke this game down in depth in my article on StatSalt. As I said in that article, I like my Sabres to end the year with a win. I’ll take them for a unit along with the Sabres team total over 3.5 for a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it with Devon Levi confirmed in goal for Buffalo.

Predators vs. Avalanche (8:00)

Going into the last game of the season, the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche have something to play for as they head into the playoffs to defend their title. They’re a point behind the Stars to win the Central Division and have home ice through the first two rounds of the playoffs and can get that with a win against the Preds tonight, coming off a big 4-2 win against the Jets at home last night (double winner for me). The Preds are coming off an overtime win at home against the Wild and have played really well lately despite being eliminated from playoff contention. Colorado has swept the previous three games this season between these Central division teams, winning 5-3 at home on November 10th, 3-1 at home on December 17th, and 3-2 on the road in overtime on December 23rd. I expect them to lock up first place in the division tonight in Smashville, especially with the Preds projected to start Kevin Lankinen in goal. The moneyline is too expensive for me at -240, but I’ll take the Avs in regulation along with their team total over 3, laying the -190 juice on that for a unit each.
