More drama this week on The Bachelorette from Brayden, even after he’s gone

Today the lead of the newest series of The Bachelor Nation franchise, The Golden Bachelor was announced, a man named Gerry, who will be the first “golden Bachelor”, a senior citizen looking to find love again. I’ve gotten kind of bored of the last few seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, which just have gotten stale the last few years, so I’m really pumped to see the entirely different dynamic we’re going to get with “old” people. Cannot wait! And of course, I’ll be blogging every episode when it comes in the spring.

We’re still in Charity’s season of The Bachelorette, which hasn’t been too bad so far. A lot of unnecessary drama from last week with Aaron and Brayden, which had both of them being wrong. I’m sure that’ll continue tonight.

Charity and her ten guys are in Stevenson, Washington. Crazy that we’re already halfway through this journey. Dotun gets the first one on one date of the week. I think they have a pretty good connection so far and he’s been involved in zero drama, so I like that decision. They start off the date going bungie jumping from one of the tallest bridges in North America, twenty stories high. I feel like this date would be a blast to go on. They both get over their fear and love doing it. After that, they roast s’mores. Dotun tells Charity about how he moved to the United States when he was four years old, how he grew up and how grateful he is about how his parents worked hard for him. Charity connects with him on that and I can really see him being one of the guys at the end of this.

“Dotun, will you accept this rose?”

Onto the group date, where the guys meet Charity in the woods and are led by three girl scouts. Whoever impresses the girl scouts the most, gets to spend some extra time with Charity at “the kissing tree”. Their first challenge is to find something in the woods to eat within five minutes. All of the guys get annoyed with Brayden. For the next challenge, the guys have to answer a bunch of questions that make them stand out. One of the fun questions, “if you had to eat one of the guys here to survive, who would it be?”, and besides Brayden obviously, who says Sean, all the rest of the guys pick Brayden. Then the final question, “how do you want this journey to end with you and Charity?”. Pretty much all of the guys did the engaged, married, not want it to end type of generic answers, besides Brayden who answers that he wants to be content. Just play the game man. Charity and the girl scouts choose Aaron to be the one to win and spend some extra time with her. Brayden’s confessional afterwards comes off as very immature and he says that they just might be the right fit…yeah dude, cause you act like the child that you are. During the after party, all of the guys go after Brayden about how he’s not ready for an engagement and is wasting everyone’s time being there. Charity walks in on the conversation and agrees that if guys are still there, they should be ready for an engagement. She pulls Brayden aside and talks to him, and he tells her that he hasn’t been excited and has just been down in the dumps since getting to Washington. Brayden tells Charity that he doesn’t feel like he’s capable of getting to the point of an engagement with her in that environment, and she walks him out, irritated with how he played the victim. At least he’s gone now. No more immature nonsense. Joey gives Charity the group date rose.

The second one on one date of the week goes to Xavier, who hasn’t had a ton of screen time. They start off going to a local fruit festival. They have fun but they don’t really connect and Charity says that he reminds her of guys that she’s dated in her past. At dinner, she starts by asking him about previous relationship and if he has any fears about an engagement at the end of this. He opens up a bit to her and tells her that his fear is that his love for someone wouldn’t be reciprocated. Then he asks her about what makes her the most nervous about a marriage. She tells him that it’s infidelity and that she had her previous long term relationship fail because she got cheated on. So both of their answers pretty much go hand in hand there. He tells her that he’s getting a PHD and tells her about his parents relationship and how his father’s love for his mother inspired him to help others in his profession. Him opening up about a lot with her, especially about his mom, really helps reassure Charity and she gives him the rose. They’d be a good connection as well.

The cocktail party this week without the drama that Brayden had brought makes this week go very smoothly for Charity and her remaining nine guys until, who else but Brayden shows back up. Of course. He shocks all the guys, walks right past all of them and goes to the room where Charity and John are making out to talk to her. All of the guys are fucking pissed. He tell her that he didn’t like how he left and apologizes. On his way back out, all the guys yell at him for pulling that bullshit.

Directly after that, the rest of the cocktail party gets cancelled, and its onto the rose ceremony. Aaron’s the first to get a rose, then Tanner, and with the final rose of the night…“Sean, will you accept this rose?”, sending Caleb, Michael, and John home.

Onto the final six guys. Next week the journey continues, back to it’s normal time of 8:00 rather than this 9:00 nonsense.
