We’ve got the Men Tell All out of the way, it’s the end of Charity’s season of the Bachelorette and tonight it all comes to an end with the most dramatic, most shocking, most heartbreaking (doubt its any of those) three hour finale. I’ve enjoyed this season. Enough drama to keep you interested, but not nearly enough for it to detract from what the show’s actually about. I think Charity was a great lead all season and thought she made the right decisions and followed her heart all the way through. Cocktail’s poured (a phenomenal one at that), let’s dive in!
We come back to Aaron making his return as he flew to Fiji to try to get another chance with Charity after she sent him home after hometowns. He makes his case to stay, she still has strong feelings for him and asks him to stay.
Onto the rose ceremony from fantasy suites, which is sure to be interesting since none of the three guys know that Xavier’s gone, and Joey and Dotun both don’t know that Aaron’s there. Joey gets the first rose of the night. Prior to giving the second rose, Charity pulls Aaron away from the rose ceremony. She tells him that even though she had regrets last week and was grateful to get more clarity this week, but their connection isn’t where they needed to be. She sends him home again for an emotional goodbye and after giving Dotun the second rose, its Joey and Dotun onto the finale. Zero surprise.
Also, in the little box where they show the live studio audience, why do they keep showing Peter Weber’s mom? His season (who had a bunch of gems that ended up on Paradise) was terrible and years ago now.
Back to the studio with Aaron on the hot seat to talk to Jesse. He doesn’t say much other than that he’ll be on Paradise.
Charity’s family is in Fiji and the first reaction from her mom is the concern of when Charity says that she’s in love with both guys. Joey is the first of the two guys to meet her family. Charity’s family all really like Joey and approve of him.
Next up is Dotun to meet Charity’s family. Charity feels like Dotun’s very familiar to the type that Charity dates in the past but she admits that she likes Joey better for her daughter. Charity’s sister also says that she feels like the connection with Joey is stronger as well.
Following meeting both guys, when Charity talks to her family, they say that both guys are great but they don’t want to compare them and in the end, it’s really all up to Charity to figure out which one she has the stronger feelings for. Charity’s pissed that her mom didn’t give her more clarity, but her mom is completely right on that one.
Joey’s up first for the final dates. Charity tells him about how much her mom couldn’t stop raving about him. Dotun has his final date and his goes really well too. Both dates go fantastic with both guys giving Charity small, cute gifts that show their love for her. Charity is transparent with Dotun in that her brain is clouded and she brings up that she still has a really strong connection with Joey.
After both guys pick rings with Neil Lane, it’s onto proposal day and the final rose. First out of the car, the guy that’s going to unfortunately leave heartbroken, Joey. Both Charity and Joey break down crying, but her connection with Dotun was just stronger.
Back to the LA studios with Joey on the hot seat to talk to Jesse, and likely be announced as the next Bachelor. He says its something you never think you’re going to go through and that it’s tough to watch back, but at the same time, that’s what he signed up for. Good self awareness. Charity joins them on the hot seat. He thanks her for everything and says the cute line of that even though they won’t be in love, they’ll both have love for each other.
Dotun proposes to Charity (i think I guessed this in Week 3) and she is thrilled to accept. I think they’re a great couple and I hope they last. Feels like their connection is so genuine and I really did enjoy watching their story play out across this season.
One final question…”Dotun, will you accept this absolute last and final rose?”
The happy couple join Jesse on the hot seat. They’re still doing great together and the show gives them a trip to Greece. Along with that, Dotun gets to surprise Charity with that she is going to be on Dancing with the Stars, just as other former Bachelorettes Gabby Windey and Hannah Brown have been.
Finally, we find out who the new Bachelor is, Joey. No shock whatsoever there. I think that’s a good pick and it feels like he’ll be a solid lead for next season. Joey meets the first lady from his season, a girl named Leia, originally from Hawaii, where Joey’s spent plenty of time. Jesse gives her an envelope, that is not a date card, that she cannot open until night one in the mansion. Interesting new twist.
Cannot wait for the back to back premieres of The Golden Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise on Thursday, September 28th. Both are going to be fucking incredible! Bachelor Nation taking over Thursday nights!
