The Golden Bachelor kicked off, and I’m so excited to watch how this show shakes out!

I cannot wait to watch tonight’s premiere of The Golden Bachelor. Over the last few years it feels like the regular Bachelor and Bachelorette have fallen off a bit. I’m sure that’s from the mix of people going on just to get social media following, the format of the franchise getting a little repetitive, and just today’s world. So I was so pumped when they announced a whole new twist to the franchise, The Golden Bachelor. Gerry Turner, a 72 year old widower will look to find love again as the first Golden Bachelor. I think bringing old people into the franchise will bring a completely different dynamic and I for one am so excited to see how it is. People later in life have so much more experience with relationships, love, and finding the right person, all without all the nonsense that social media brings. I can’t wait. It’s honestly like the most wholesome content that this franchise could bring us. Let’s dive right into this.

We get started with Gerry getting ready with The Wind by Cat Stevens playing in the background, talking about how lucky he would be to find a second love of his life, reflecting on his 43 year marriage to his high school sweetheart, who passed away in 2017. Sad story about how they planned their retirement life together, bought a beautiful lake house together, and how only weeks later she died. Gerry seems like a great guy.

Gerry arrives to the Bachelor mansion and let the journey begin! Time for the ladies to arrive and they all seem great. They all got fun personalities and I’m loving this concept more and more.

After all the ladies come out of the limo, Gerry makes some solid first impressions with them. Faith, the last lady to meet Gerry, who came in riding in a motorcycle and seems like a great gal, gets the first impression rose.

Time for the first Golden Bachelor rose ceremony. The only notable lady to go home is Matt James’ mom, but all the ladies that got any air time get roses.

Queue Don’t Stop Believin’…because like the finale of The Sopranos showed us with the same song (I’ve had a whole blog breaking that down frame by frame in my drafts for years now, maybe someday I’ll finish it)…never…stop…believin’.

It’s never too late to fall in love.

Can’t wait to watch this whole thing shake out. I really think this ends up being the most fun I’ve had watching a Bachelor season since Colton’s what, six years ago?”

Tomorrow I break down the first episode of the new season of my favorite show on reality TV, Bachelor in Paradise…a day late. Let’s fucking goooo.
