Last night I got my first winning day of the NHL season, going 2-2 to win 0.38 units. Tonight we just have two games on the slate before a loaded day of hockey tomorrow! Let’s win again!
Devils vs. Coyotes (7:00)
This isn’t the best matchup. I broke this game down in depth in my article on StatSalt. As I said in that article, the Devils are the far better team in this matchup on both ends of the ice, and even in the second half of a back-to-back after their 5-4 win against the Red Wings last night (winner for me), they should easily win this game. Last year the Devils’ offense scored the sixth-most goals in the league, generating the third-most expected goals and the sixth-most high-danger shots in the NHL. Defensively they allowed just the eighth-fewest goals in the NHL, giving up the third-fewest expected goals and the third-fewest high-danger shots. Arizona on the other hand was on the opposite sides of the standings in both ends of the ice as one of the worst teams in the NHL both offensively and defensively. The moneyline at -250 is way too expensive for me, but I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Capitals vs. Penguins (7:30)
I always love this rivalry, Sid vs. Ovi. I feel like this game’s always a toss up on who wins. I’d slightly lean the Pens win it since they are the better team but I’ll stay off it. I do like the over though, and I’ll take the alternate over 6 for half a unit.
BONUS PROP PARLAY: I’m adding a fun little parlay (which I boosted on Fanduel) taking a bunch of guys to get lower than usual shot totals. My buddy found this idea a couple days ago and think’s he’s a genius for coming up with it. So I’m riding the idea. Let’s crush it and win!!
