I’ve really enjoyed the first few episodes of The Golden Bachelor. Its so genuine and has none of the drama of any other show in this series cause they’re all there for the right reason. A bunch of 60+ ladies don’t care to grow their Instagram followers. They want to find love, a stark contrast from all the other shows in this franchise.
The ladies start the week with a group date, doing a talent show hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe. The winner of the talent show gets a one on one date with Gerry. The ladies all crush it and enjoy coming out of their comfort zone for Gerry. Joan, who was the most nervous about it, writes and reads Gerry a really cute poem and she wins the date. Their conversion at dinner is so genuine to watch as they connect on dating after the death of their spouse. I like Joan a lot. Seems like a great lady.
“Joan, will you accept this rose?”
The next morning though she gets a text that her daughter had a tough delivery of Joan’s grandchild and she has to leave to be with her family. She talks to Gerry and emotionally sends herself home. Even the exit is so sad and genuine.
Ellen gets the one on one date. She starts the day getting to pick out a designer dress and then Gerry picks her up for the date. He tells her that he can be the most himself when he’s with her and they take a hot air balloon ride where he asks her…
“Will you accept this rose?”
At the cocktail party, Kathy (who I still think looks like Kaitlyn Jenner) starts to spiral a bit because she doesn’t think she’s getting a rose. Which probably isn’t far off, seeing that she has not really made a connect with Gerry. When she talks to Gerry, she says that she felt like she had a lot of meanness towards her. Seems like its the first bit of drama that we’ve seen all season. Gerry walks away and comes back with a rose for Kathy. Kathy and Theresa hash out their non-issues, which makes Theresa feel shitty for no real reason that she was being “boastful about her connection with Gerry”. They clear the air between them a bit. Faith goes to comfort Theresa and Gerry walks in and tells Theresa that she should just let it go.
Onto the rose ceremony after the first bit of drama we’ve had all season. Faith gets the first rose. Then Sandra, Leslie, Nancy, Susan, April, and with the final rose of the night…
“Theresa, will you accept this rose?”
Not a surprise at all, I thought her drama was really completely nothing. Edith and Christina go home.
