The raw and real emotions and openness in The Golden Bachelor is so phenomenal to watch

Thanks to Biden’s useless address (can’t wait till that moron’s out of office), the Golden Bachelor started later than usual tonight which means I won’t watch Paradise until tomorrow morning but I had to make sure I caught the latest episode of my new favorite reality show on TV. The genuine connections and openness of The Golden Bachelor has been so fantastic to watch so far this season and I’ve loved all of it, besides the completely unnecessary drama last week created by Kathy, the Caitlyn Jenner look-alike, who made herself look like the victim in her jealousy of Theresa.

Heading into the mansion to drop off the group date card and host today’s group date is the gorgeous Trista Sutter, the original Bachelorette, and the queen of Bachelor Nation. All of the ladies besides Leslie, who got the one-on-one date, going to play pickleball with Gerry. Also helping host the date is Joey, the next Bachelor, a tennis pro. April fakes an ankle injury to get some attention from Gerry, so she obviously has been watching The Bachelor for years. Gerry’s contestants pair up for a pickleball tournament with the winners getting to do a photoshoot with Gerry in a pickleball magazine. Ellen, the pickleball captain and Kathy vs. Sandra and Nancy play in the championship match. Ellen and Kathy win the match. Sandra apparently missed her daughter’s wedding to be on The Golden Bachelor, so the first ladies that Gerry talks to one on one at the afterparty of course is she. Her and Gerry FaceTime her daughter to give her congratulations. Theresa pulls away Kathy to talk and make sure everything is okay after the drama of last week. Theresa tells Kathy that she never meant to be malicious and Caitlyn Jenner Kathy then lectures Theresa to not say anything that goes on with her and Gerry. Kathy’s honestly the only lady on this show that I absolutely don’t like and that I hope gets sent home. Theresa’s done nothing wrong. Later on, when Gerry talks to Theresa, she tells him that Kathy keeps talking down to her and telling her to zip it. Next up, Gerry of course talks to Kathy. Gerry pretty much right away tells Kathy that he’s not happy about it and pretty much sends her on her way. Miserable old hag. With no surprise, Gerry deservedly gives Sandra the group date rose. The sacrifice to give up being at her daughter’s wedding to be on the show much deserves that rose and I completely agree with him giving it to her. There was no other option.

Leslie and Gerry begin their group date with Gerry driving around in ATVs on what seems like a very fun date.

Back at the mansion, the ladies play never have I ever, which is pretty hilarious for these older ladies. I love how open Gerry and all of these ladies are on these shows and how honestly they speak their feelings, letting their guard down.

Leslie, will you accept this rose?

At the cocktail party, Gerry pulls Susan first, who hasn’t gotten much time with him. He gifts her a rose quartz, which he says reminds him of his late wife and the two qualities of empathy and kindness. Adorable gesture. Ellen is the first lady on Golden Bachelor history to say that she’s falling in love and that it scares her. That makes Gerry very emotional, but in a good way. So fucking cute. I really hope it’s Ellen at the end of this.

Nancy talks to Gerry next and tells him that it feels like he has much stronger connections with other ladies than he does with her. He doesn’t dispute it and she heads home. It’s such a breathe of fresh air on these self-eliminations compared to the usual Bachelor and Bachelorette shows.

Onto the rose ceremony with just seven ladies remaining with only eight ladies left, two with roses and two going home. Ellen of course gets the first rose of the night. Faith gets the next. Susan gets the next, leaving Kathy, April, and Theresa with the final rose of the night. Give it to Theresa, Gerry!

Theresa, will you accept this rose?

Thank god. Best and obvious choice there. See ya Kathy. And April wasn’t really a surprise either.

This season is flying by with the roses next week determining who goes onto hometowns.

I’ll watch Bachelor in Paradise tomorrow and recap that.
