Not my best hockey night yesterday on the small slate, going 2-3 to lose 1.02 units. Let’s bounce back here tonight on a big eleven game NHL slate!
Bruins vs. Islanders (7:00)
I expect the Bruins to win this game at home and the price is nice here at -139, which is a good amount cheaper than I expected this matchup to be. I’ll take them for a unit. I’d lean the under, but not quite enough to bet on it at 5.5.
Senators vs. Canucks (7:00)
Last night the Sens pulled off a nice win on the road, beating their rival Leafs 6-3 in Toronto (I split that game, cashing the over easily but losing on the Leafs). Vancouver’s playing fantastic hockey so far this season and I like them to get the win here on the road, especially with Ottawa in the second half of a back-to-back. I’ll take them for half a unit. I like the over as well, and I’ll take the alternate over 6.5 for half a unit too.
Red Wings vs. Canadiens (7:00)
I don’t really expect this to be a great game here. The Habs are a pretty bad team and the Red Wings have been decent this season. I’ll take Detroit to win here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not quite enough to bet it.
Lightning vs. Blackhawks (7:00)
This isn’t a great matchup. I like the Lightning to win this game at home, but not enough to lay the expensive -258 moneyline on a team I’m not really sold on. I’ll take them in regulation though for half a unit. I like the over here too, which I’ll take for half a unit as well. I also considered the Bolts team total, but I’m not betting it.
Rangers vs. Wild (7:00)
This game should be a fun cross-conference matchup. These teams just played five days ago with the Wild getting a 5-4 shootout win at home. I like the Rags to answer back here with a win at home in MSG and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over but I’d rather just ride with New York.
Blue Jackets vs. Stars (7:30)
This is a smash spot for me for the Stars. They’re coming off two losses in a row but they’re a real solid team. I expect them to bounce back big time against a lousy Blue Jackets team to get the win on the road tonight and finish their season sweep of Columbus after a 5-3 win at home on October 30th. I’ll take the Stars in regulation for a unit and their team total over 3.5 for half a unit.
Blues vs. Coyotes (8:00)
Not the best Central Division game here. Neither of these teams are all that great. I do think the Coyotes are more talented as they showed in their 6-2 win against the Blues in St. Louis on October 19th and I think they win again tonight. I’ll take the Yotes for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but I’m not betting it.
Jets vs. Predators (8:00)
Second kind of lousy Central Division matchup in a row. Outside of the Avs and Stars, it’s just not a great division. I give the Jets an edge here at home and like them to win tonight. I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but with both of these teams trending over lately, I’ll stay off the total.
Avalanche vs. Kraken (9:00)
I like the Avs a lot here and expect a similar result to their 4-1 win in Seattle last month. The moneyline is a bit too expensive but I’ll take the Avs in regulation and the Avs team total over 3.5 for half a unit each.
Kings vs. Penguins (10:30)
The Kings are on fire, coming off a big 4-1 win in Vegas last night to extend their win streak to four in a row and their point streak to seven in row. This team’s fucking good. The Penguins haven’t been all that great but they’ve had success in this Cali road trip, beating the Sharks 10-2 (big deal…) and shutting out the hot Ducks 2-0. I’d lean the Kings win here but think this could be a bit of a let down spot with them traveling back home. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it, so this is one of the couple games today I’m completely staying off.
Sharks vs. Oilers (10:30)
It’s still very early in the season, but this is a must win game for the 2-8-1 Oilers. They’ve been brutal. The Oilers goaltending is horrendous and even Leon and Connor aren’t playing great. They have one win in their last eight games. That’s so bad for a team that was supposed to contend to win the fucking Cup. The Sharks are the worst team in the NHL, by far, and could be the worst in history. They got decent goaltending against the Flyers on Tuesday night, ending their record-tying start to the season with eleven straight losses to start the year. That run included the first time a team gave up 10 goals in two games in a row in literally 50 years. Horrendous. The Oilers win tonight. No shot I’m betting them at -350. A 2-8-1 team should never be that price, but I don’t see a way that the Sharks could win this game. The regulation line is even too expensive at -205, but I’ll take a shot on the puck line for half a unit and I’ll take the Oilers team total over 4 for a unit. I’d lean the over.
