Last week on the Golden Bachelor, after hometowns we were left with a huge cliffhanger. With the first rose of his final rose ceremony, Gerry gave it to Leslie. That leaves Faith, who he told in front of her family that he was in love with, and Theresa with his final rose. Before giving it out last week, Gerry had an emotional breakdown, walking away to bring us to tonight with the last rose remaining.
First though, it’s to the studio for the first ever Women Tell All of The Golden Bachelor. This really was SUCH a great season and the highlight video of it really exemplified it.
Upon clearing the air on her drama with Theresa, Kathy does say she could’ve been more delicate and should’ve “zipped it” and then makes a great point that not only is the show about love, but it’s so much about hope, friendship, and what life offers all of us. That’s such a great point and I wish all the 20-something’s on The Bachelor and Bachelorette would take notes on that. All of the ladies get a special video message from none other than KRIS JENNER, saying this has been the best season she’s watched since Trista’s season of The Bachelorette, and then gives Susan her own special shout out. The Kardashian and Golden Bachelor collab we didn’t see coming.
The first ever lady to hit the hot seat for The Golden Bachelor is Joan, to talk about her unexpected departure. Joan’s story was adorable and I hated to see her have to leave. She highlights again what she said when she left that Gerry really let her feel seen and not invisible as it seems when you get older. And as a young-ish guy that likes older women (obviously I know not a whole lot of people read this blog that are going to care about that, enjoy that line), I loved that. Hopefully at some point I made someone feel that emotion.
Next on the hot seat is Ellen, who had the most emotional goodbye so far of this season. I really thought Ellen from the start was going to be who Gerry would end up with at the end of this. She was the first to tell Gerry she was falling in love with him and as Jesse says, “I know there wasn’t a member of Bachelor Nation that wasn’t pulling for your happiness”. Ellen was as genuine as you see on these show and seemed like such a fantastic lady. She talks about her best friend Roberta, who convinced her to apply and go on The Golden Bachelor and she then lost to cancer shortly after finishing filming the show. Roberta’s daughter is in the audience and tells Ellen that no one deserves to find love more than her and she exemplified what a best friend and great person is.
Finally, Gerry, our first ever Golden Bachelor, is on the hot seat.
Back to the Mansion! Will it be Theresa or Faith?
“Theresa”
WHAT?!
I just literally screamed out loud watching this!
“Theresa, will you accept this rose?”
Two rose ceremonies in a row, Theresa’s the one I thought was going home and Gerry gave her the final rose both nights over Ellen and Faith. AFTER HE TOLD FAITH IN FRONT OF HER KIDS AND HER WHOLE FAMILY THAT HE WAS IN LOVE WITH HER. I can’t believe it. Poor lady.
Faith’s back in the studio crying on stage. After talking about how gut wrenching that goodbye was, Gerry joins Faith on the hot seat and breaks down crying right away hugging her. She tells him that going from being in love to just nothing in an instant when he didn’t say her name and walked her out at the rose ceremony was the hardest part. He tells her that he really was in love at that point. What an emotional discussion that actually brought a tear to my eye watching it. He says that he felt awful that he promised her family that he’d protect her heart and that he broke that.
The journey for Gerry continues in Costa Rica next week with Leslie and Theresa with fantasy suites and an emotional ending two weeks later.
