I extended my winning streak to four days in a row (17-3 in that span) for another profit yesterday, going 2-1 to win 1.64 units. Today we have a nine game slate starting off with an early game for the Global Series. Let’s keep riding!
Senators vs. Red Wings (2:00)
This should be a fun game to start the day as the NHL takes it Global to Stockholm, Sweden for this Atlantic Division matchup. In the first game between these teams this year, the Red Wings got a 5-2 win in Ottawa. I think the Red Wings win this one again, but I don’t like it enough to bet on. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for a unit to get the day started.
Canadiens vs. Golden Knights (7:00)
Huge cross-conference mismatch here. The Vegas Golden Knights are the best team in the NHL this season but have just one win in their last four games, so this feels like a great “get right” spot for me. They’re coming off a 3-0 loss in Washington on Tuesday night where Vegas outplayed the Caps in that loss by 1.5 expected goals until the empty netters, and couldn’t score. That that was a 1-0 game till the empty net capped it off for the Capitals. The first game between these teams this year was a lot closer than it should’ve been with great goaltending for the Habs, with Vegas winning 3-2 in a shootout at home on October 30th. I like the Knights to get right with a win on the road here tonight. I don’t love laying the -200, so I’ll take Vegas in regulation for a unit. I considered just laying the juice on the ML and making this a big bet, but I’d rather limit that risk.
Penguins vs. Devils (7:00)
The Penguins really picked up the pace and come into tonight’s game on a five game win streak after a 5-3 win in Columbus on Thursday. The Devils on the other hand are still struggling without Hughes and Hischier, with just one win (against the Blackhawks) in their last five games. I like Pittsburgh to keep their hot streak going at home and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Blue Jackets vs. Coyotes (7:00)
This isn’t a great cross-conference game here. The Blue Jackets stink, coming into tonight’s game on a six game losing streak with just one win in their last eleven games. The Coyotes have been a decent mid-tier team. They’re not making the playoffs, but this team can compete on an every night basis. I like the Yotes to get a win on the road here tonight and I’ll take them for half a unit, at a bit cheaper of a price than I expected them to come in (I figured they’d be around -140). I like the over even more though, which I’ll take for a unit.
Blackhawks vs. Lightning (8:00)
Not the best game here. The Lightning are coming off two shutout losses in a row, losing 5-0 in St. Louis and 4-0 at home to Carolina. The Blackhawks just aren’t a great team. In the first game between these teams a week ago in Tampa, the Hawks won 5-3. I’d expect the Bolts to get right and answer back with a win here on the road in Chicago and I’ll lay the pricey -185 on them for half a unit. I like the over too which I’ll also take for half a unit.
Flames vs. Canucks (9:00)
Last night the Canucks closed out my night with a win at home against the Islanders on Quinn Hughes OT game winner, after they came back with from a 2-0 deficit in the first period. Vancouver’s played fantastic hockey this season and they’ve impressed me under Rick Tocchet. The Flames have been pretty terrible this season, but have picked it up a bit lately, with a 3-1-1 record in their last five games after ending a six game losing streak. My initial though on this game was to stay off it completely, but even in the second half of a back to back, and on the road, I feel like there’s solid value on the Canucks as a dog here, and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the over but not enough to bet it.
Kraken vs. Islanders (10:00)
This is such a shitty cross-conference game with both of these teams on losing streaks and in the second half of back to back. The Kraken last night blew a 3-1 lead to Evander Kane’s natural hat trick, losing 4-3 in overtime to the Oilers last night while the Isles blew a 2-0 lead to the Canucks to lose 4-3 in OT. These are both lousy hockey teams with a combined one win in their last six games each. Pathetic. I’d slightly lean the Kraken and the over here, but no shot I’m betting this game at all. I’ll lay off it completely.
Kings vs. Panthers (10:30)
This should be a pretty fun matchup. The Panthers made me sweat out my huge double winner on Tuesday night where they were actually down 3-2 in the third period to the Sharks and came back to win 5-3 on the road. That extended the win streak to five straight for the Eastern Conference Champions. The Kings are coming off two losses at home against the Pennsylvania teams in a row. These are both solid teams. I’d give a slight edge to the Kings to win this one, but not enough to bet it. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Sharks vs. Blues (10:30)
I don’t think the Blues are all that good, but they’re on an impressive run right now with five wins in their last six games. The Sharks are complete dog shit, the worst team in the NHL by far. I expect an easy win for St. Louis on the road and I’ll continue my full fade of the Sam Jose. I’ll take the Blues in regulation for 2 units, their puck line over 3.5 for half a unit, and the -1.5 and -2.5 puck lines for half a unit each.
