My four day NHL winning streak came to an end last night as the Blues got crushed 5-1 by the Sharks to swing my night, as I went 0-4 on that game to finish the night 4-9 to lose 4.48 units. Betting against SJ is the right move every night and it’s not like they’re going to go 1-81 the whole season, so there will be some losses there. Let’s bounce back today with just a three game slate, with another day game to get the day started.
Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs (2:00)
The NHL Global Series continues with the early start today from Stockholm, Sweden in the bigger Olympic rink. Yesterday I cashed in on the over here early as the Red Wings lost 5-4 in overtime to the Sens after forcing OT as they came all the way back from a 4-0 deficit in a great game. The Leafs have three wins in their last four games, coming off a 5-2 win against the Canucks on Saturday that I was glad I stayed off the side in, but cashed the over. With Detroit in the second half of a back to back overseas, I’m expecting the well rested Leafs to get a win in this Atlantic Division matchup and I’ll take them for half a unit. I love the over though, which I’m going to smash here for 2 units.
Jets vs. Sabres (8:00)
My Sabres are coming off a pretty pathetic 5-2 loss to the Bruins on Tuesday night to drop to a losing record with just one win in their last four games. Our best player, Tage Thompson will be out for some time with a hand injury after he blocked a shot in Tuesday loss, which is a big missing piece for this team. The Jets have played really well lately after their slow start to the season and I expect them to get a win tonight. Although he’s been pretty good in his limited starts this season, I don’t think expected goalie Eric Comrie to be all that great against his former team. I’ll bet against my Sabres again with a unit on Winnipeg at home. I like the over as well, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Ducks vs. Panthers (10:00)
This should be a fun game out in Cali tonight. The Ducks have slowed down lately after their hot run. The Panthers have played really well, but couldn’t find the net in their 2-1 loss in LA last night, losing the over for me and ending their five game win streak. I’d slightly lean Florida wins to bounce back from their loss last night, but not enough to bet it. I do like the over, which I’ll take for half a unit.
