Although it’s been overshadowed by how great of a show The Golden Bachelor was, this season of Bachelor in Paradise has been entertaining with all the drama. Such a stark contrast, but still fun to watch everything unfold on the beach. Last night was the three hour season finale and I managed to avoid spoilers, so time to catch up!
Kat and John Henry get a date card to start off this final week. Kat opens up about her past to John Henry and he opens up about his past struggles.
The next date card goes to the strongest couple on the beach, Aaron and Eliza. Their date is one of the weird spiritual dates that they have every season. Afterwards they tell each other that they’re falling in love with each other and that they’re both ready for an engagement at the end of this.
Back on the beach, Jess is still really struggling with Blake having left and isn’t able to really open herself to any more connections. She ends things with Tanner, who I actually feel bad for, but she makes that decision to take care of herself and chooses to leave Paradise. Tanner leaves Paradise as well.
Kylee is struggling a bit and in a funk, because she doesn’t know if she’s on the same page as Aven to get engaged at the end of this. She asks Aven about how he feels about getting engaged, and he asks her why its an engagement specifically for her to believe that he sees a future with her. So clearly he wants to leave together but isn’t ready to be engaged, which I’ve said years watching this show is probably the best move rather than forcing an engagement. He says in the confessional the very accurate thing of that he believes in Paradise but still can’t commit to getting engaged without seeing the dynamics of their relationship outside of this and in the real world.
Kenny and Mari, who previously got engaged in Paradise come down to visit the beach. Their season was electric and they’re still together. They’re in Paradise for their wedding in the place they got engaged two seasons ago. Blake returns to be Kenny’s best man. Kylee’s real happy to see him back. Beautiful Paradise wedding and following that everyone has a rave party.
After Kylee talks to Blake for advise and Aven talking to Kenny and Mari, the two of them talk. Aven tells Kylee that he’s falling in love with her and hates seeing her upset, especially if its because of him. He then says that he has very strong feelings for her and really wants to start a life outside of Paradise with her, but he needs more outside of Paradise to take that step, which I think is completely fair. She tells him that she’s falling in love with him too but that him not wanting to get engaged gives her doubt. So they’re at a stalemate for really no reason other than the label of being engaged.
Mercedes and Jordan both leave Paradise since they clearly don’t have any real connection. No surprise there. That leaves the final five couples remaining with the opportunity for fantasy suites as the couples have to decide if they want to get engaged and continue their relationship or leave Paradise.
Kylee and Aven discuss their relationship again and that he isn’t ready for an engagement but its so confident in their relationship. She decides that she doesn’t want to lose him and they decide to rightfully leave Paradise together without getting engaged. Absolutely the right move.
Sam tells Peter that it doesn’t feel right for her to continue their relationship and she ends things with him, saying it doesn’t feel strong enough for them to leave. He’s shocked by it and they leave Paradise separately.
Olivia knows that her and Michael are clearly not going to get engaged, but she wants their relationship to continue. She lays that out to him, but he responds that it feels like their in two different spots, they break up, and leave Paradise separately as well.
That leaves Paradise with two couples, Aaron and Eliza and Kat and John Henry.
After the fantasy suites, the first couple to have the final rose ceremony is Aaron and Eliza, he tells he that he talked to her mom, and they happily get engaged.
Next up is John Henry and Peter. He says prior to their final rose ceremony that his heart is telling him to get engaged, but that his gut is telling him not to and that they’re not ready. He tells her that his gut is telling her that it’s too soon, but he decides to try something different, follows his heart and proposes to her.
Good for both couples, and I hope that them, as well as Aven and Kylee all work out.
Adorable closing “where are they now” montage. Not the best but this was a solid, entertaining season.
We get a month and a half off until Joey’s season of The Bachelor premieres January 22nd.
