Tonight the Sabres took their most embarrassing loss of the season, with a horrendous 9-4 blowout loss at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets, one of the worst teams in the league.
The Sabres finally got on the board early in a game with Dahlin coming right down the middle and jumping into the play, getting Buffalo a bit 1-0 lead early, just 30 seconds into the game. With 9:25 left in the first period, the Blue Jackets tied it up at 1-1 on a lousy defensive play down low by the Sabres as Justin Danforth in a kind of a combined effort with Johnny Hockey, scored behind Levi to tie the game. Columbus took the lead with 5:20 to go in the first, with Adam Fantilli shooting the puck from a low angle below the goal line, banking the puck off Devon Levi to make it a 2-1 Jackets. On the power play they extended their lead with 11.5 seconds left in the first period with a sick between the legs goal right in front by Marchenko. Awesome goal and I really couldn’t even complain about it. The Sabres played lousy though after the hot start to the game, getting outshot 14-4.
The Blue Jackets padded their lead more, with Marchenko getting his second goal in a row to make it 4-1 with 12:23 left in the second period. That led to a goalie change with UPL going in net in place of Levi. On the first shot Luukkonen saw 18 seconds later, Marchenko made it a natural hat trick and gave Columbus the 5-1 lead. This team’s pathetic. The over hit early on a rip of a goal in transition by Gudbranson 8:52 in the period, making this game even more embarrassing with a 6-1 score. I can’t believe I’m still watching this game. The game continued to get embarrassing with the score getting to 7-1 with Sean Kuraly’s goal on a two on one with 7:33 left in the period. Kyle Okposo stopped the bleeding a little bit with 1:06 left in the period, but it really doesn’t matter at this point.
Tage Thomson scorer on the power play on a one timed rocket to make it a 7-3 game with 17:03 left in the game. Dylan Cozens made it 7-4 with 12:09 to go with a nice shot in transition. Columbus answered right back though with their eight goal of the game by Cole Sillinger. The score got even more embarrassing with the Jackets making it 9-4 with 9:01 left.

Might be my best rant I’ve done on this team.
What an embarrassing, awful, pathetic game. This was easily the worst game of the year. We got the offense going a bit and started off hot with the Dahlin goal just 30 seconds into the game but what a fucking joke this team is. Blow this whole team up. We got outshot 34-29 and just slightly outplayed by an expected goal rate of 3.36-3.23, but really that just shows how stats don’t tell the story of a game. This game was a joke. Horrible defense, horrible goaltending (from both of them), bad coaching. I can go on and on. The goal for this season was to make the playoffs and this team isn’t even close to being a playoff team. Not. Even. Close. They’re horrible and just got laughed off home ice against a team that’s garbage. Fire Granato. Fire Adams. Trade everyone. Fuck it.
This isn’t even fun. We suck.
The Leafs come to town on Thursday and we’ll probably get the shit kicked out of us again.
