NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 12/20/23

My NHL woes this season continued yesterday, going 3-5 to lose 1.69 units. Tonight we just have a quick three game slate before a huge slate tomorrow.

Capitals vs. Islanders (7:30)

Fun Metro Division matchup here. These teams split their first two games this season, both low scoring matchups with the Islanders winning the first game with a 3-0 shutout in Washington and the Caps answering back with a 4-1 win on Long Island. Both of these teams have played really well lately, both coming off wins. With the Isles in the second half of a back to back on the road after their 3-1 win over the Oilers last night, I’d lean the Caps win but not enough to bet it. I do like the under here though and I’ll take the alternate under 6 in regulation for half a unit.

Jets vs. Red Wings (7:30)

This one’s a solid cross conference game. The Jets are coming off a surprising 3-2 overtime loss at home to the Habs on Monday night. They’ve been great this season, picking up at least a point in all but one of their last eight games with 14 wins in their last 20 games. They’ve been great on both ends of the ice. Detroit’s in a big slump right now. Coming off a 4-3 loss at home to the Ducks on Monday, where they fell short of the comeback, not able to get out of an early 4-0 deficit. They have just one win in their last seven games after a really hot run. Their offense has been good but the defense has struggled. Winnipeg won the first game between these teams in Detroit earlier in this season 4-1 and I like them to win again at home tonight. I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet on it.

Kings vs. Kraken (10:00)

These teams just played in Seattle on Saturday night and although the Kings were the far better team and dominated the game, the Kraken kept it close, with LA ultimately still getting the win 3-2 in a thrilling, long shootout (winner for me). LA’s in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a big 4-1 win in San Jose yesterday. This team is very good on both ends of the ice and they’re a team I see competing for the Cup this year. The Kraken on the other hand have been horrible this season. They’ve picked up at least a point in each of their last four games, coming off a 4-3 overtime loss in Dallas on Monday. I like the Kings to keep winning here and with the price break cause they’re in the second half of a back to back, its worth betting on. I’ll take LA for a unit. I’d lean the over, but think it’s best to just stay on the Kings side.
