NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 1/10/24

Slight winning night for me yesterday on the NHL, going 6-4 to 0.62 units, my second winning night in a row. Tonight we have just a quick three game slate. Let’s make it three nights of winners!

Flyers vs. Canadiens (7:00)

This isn’t all that great of a game. The Habs are coming off pretty surprising 4-3 shootout win against the Rangers at home on Saturday, just their second win in their last six games. Montreal’s struggled on both ends of the ice this year. The Flyers have been a good team this season and they’re holding onto their third place spot in the Metro Division despite being in a slump right now. Coming off their 4-1 loss at home to their rival Penguins on Monday, they only have two wins in their last nine games. Philly’s defense has been very good this season, but their offense has struggled. I like the Flyers to get a win at home here to get out of their slump and I’ll take them for half a unit. I think the total on this game is pretty much a coin flip, so I’ll just roll with Philly here.

Stars vs. Wild (7:30)

These teams are in the second half of a home and home as the Stars look to complete the season sweep of Minnesota, coming home from a 4-0 shutout win on the road on Saturday (win for me). Dallas dominated the first game between these teams as well with a big 8-3 win on the road in November. The Stars are having quite a good season, currently holding their third place spot in the Central comfortably with Saturday’s win ending a three game losing streak for them. The Wild have struggled this season on both ends of the ice and they’ve had their issues recently with just one win in their last six games. I expect Dallas to finish the season sweep here tonight at home and I’ll take them for a unit along with half a unit on the puck line. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet on it.

Avalanche vs. Golden Knights (10:00)

The first two games on tonight’s slate don’t have a whole lot of luster to them, but this should be a fantastic game in the Western Conference. Both of these teams have been very good this season, each in second place in their divisions. The Avalanche have been rolling lately. Coming off a 4-3 shootout win on Monday night at home against the Bruins to bounce back from their 8-4 loss on Saturday to the Panthers, they’ve picked up five wins in their last six games, picking up at least a point in eight of their last nine. The Golden Knights have been in a slump recently with just two wins in their last eight games (both in their last four). Both of these teams have been very good on both ends of the ice, with an edge offensively to the Avs, and defensively to the Knights. The Knights won in a complete blowout in the first game between these teams at home, winning in a 7-0 shutout. I think this ends up being a pretty close, competitive matchup. I’d lean the Avs answer back with a win at home tonight, but not quite enough to bet it. I do like the over though, and I’ll take a half unit shot on the alternate over 6.
