A new season of The Bachelor started last night as Joey, the tennis pro that was one of the fan favorites of Charity’s season of The Bachelorette begins his journey to find love.
We start the season with a shot of the final rose, with Joey walking away heartbroken and crying…is that the actual way this season ends? That’s yet to be determined but as we know with how the producers of this show make such a compelling show every season.
Joey was completely in love with Charity, was in the final two, and got sent home heartbroken on the final rose.
To the mansion as the limos pull up with the most women in Bachelor Nation history. The majority of the ladies get to the mansion, with a few standouts, and some creative introductions. Lea, who Joey met during After the Final Rose when he was announced as the Bachelor is last to arrive. She comes with the envelope she received during After the Final Rose, which she was instructed not to open until she arrived at the mansion.
Jess, the girl from Tennessee, who came in on a boat gets the first kiss of the season. She does go in though and tells all the girls that they kissed. Not a great move. That rubs most of the other girls the wrong way. This girl’s absolutely going to be one of the villains.
The weirdest thing that happens though is there’s two sisters that are both here. Very strange dynamic.
On her own, Lea opens her card. The card gives her the power to “steal” a one on one date from anyone at any time before hometowns. Crazy twist on the game and absolutely a fun move. It could also make her an immediate villain since it screws over whoever’s supposed to get that date. Difficult for her to navigate. She talks to Joey about it. She tells him that she doesn’t want to interfere in his journey, which he even says that speaks volumes of her character. She makes a great point as well that she doesn’t need this superficial advantage, because if she is or isn’t Joey’s person, then it doesn’t need that extra benefit of the card. After talking about it with Joey, she tells the rest of the girls what it is and throws it in the fireplace. Smart move.
Joey deservedly gives Lea the first impression rose.
Onto the first rose ceremony. Allison, the younger sister, gets the first rose. Daisy, who is already my favorite, gets the second rose. Not really any surprises. Evalin, who didn’t talk to Joey but is crying all night in the confessional gets the second last rose. With the final rose of the evening, Joey gives it to Lauren, the old sister.
The journey really begins next week. Should be a good season!
