One villain gets sent home and a new one emerges tonight on The Bachelor

Last week’s episode of The Bachelor was completely derailed by pointless drama in the house between the two most annoying people all season, Sydney and Maria as Joey’s journey continued. This week they HAVE to have a two on one date and the episode starts with a cold open pointing exactly to that, with the two of them sitting at the front of a yacht in silence.

This week the journey goes international, as Joey and the ladies fly to Malta. The first date of the week is a one on one date with Lexi, who Joey already hit it off with, especially in the group date last week. They explore Malta together and have a great time. She’s nervous going into the dinner afterwards because she wants to bring up a health condition that she has where she might not be able to have kids. She tells him about it and that her previous relationship ended because of that. Joey assures her that it doesn’t scare her. I really like both of them. Joey’s a GREAT Bachelor with how he handles the mature conversations with these women and Lexi seems fantastic. He gives her the rose.

Next up is a group date, with two people missing from the card…Maria and Sydney, two on one official. Before we get to that though, we have the group date first, a fun medieval knights themed date. The girl who wins the competition to spend more time with Joey is Autumn. Kelsey T, who Joey has clearly strong feelings for, gets the group date rose.

Onto the two on one date. They clearly have two different approaches here, with Maria pretty much just worrying about herself and making it about showing Joey who she really is, while Sydney is completely occupied with Sydney. The three of them go on a boat to explore the Blue Grotto. Maria tries to at least make the most of the date, but Sydney is a complete buzz kill and a miserable person. The two of them individually tell Joey pretty much completely opposite stories. Going into dinner, Joey says he doesn’t want to turn it into trying to figure out the truth. Joey walks out Sydney, telling her that he can’t give her the rose. Thank God. Smart move Joey. When Joey comes back he tells Maria that he appreciates her realness with him, and gives her the rose. I’m not a huge fan of her, but he made the right decision there…although I don’t see her making it more than another week or two.

At the cocktail party, Lea says she’s disappointed that all the other girls don’t care that Sydney went home and that they’re all being nice to Maria. Ummmm, Sydney had to go…and that’s how these shows work! So Lea’s the new villain now. She goes to ask Medina to chat and it might be the dumbest conversation of this season, including all the nonsense from Sydney. That completely blows up in the house. After that, Lea goes to talk to Joey about it while Maria loses her mind about it.

It all continues tomorrow night!

PS: Chandler’s a fan of Joey (get it?)
