Last week’s episode of The Bachelor was fantastic, with no drama and a lot of true feelings starting to show for both Joey and the remaining ladies. We had some surprising exits, and some expected ones, and Joey’s down to his final six ladies for the last week before hometowns in Jasper National Park in Alberta.
Daisy gets the first one on one of the week, the first to get two this season. Before she gets to the date, Joey says that she’s the only one that hasn’t expressed how she’s really feeling about him and he needs that to keep moving forward with her. They start their date with a sightseeing horseback riding date to a scenic hot tub. She does tell the confessional that she isn’t in love with him, but she sees a future with him. At dinner that night, Joey asks Daisy where her head is in this process and she tells him truthfully that she can see herself falling in love with him in the future, but that she isn’t there yet. Joey tells Daisy that conversation doesn’t scare him and he gives her the rose, willing to take that chance to go onto hometowns with her. They finish the night going ice skating (complete with hockey sticks in a rink all to themselves).
Next up is the final group date of the season with Jenn, Maria, Kelsey T., and Rachel. They start the date off doing lumberjack outdoor games. Seems like a fun date. On the date, Maria gets rattled being outdoors and then again by seeing Jenn kiss Joey. You’re in the final six, get over it. At the cocktail party, Maria tells Joey that it makes her struggle to see his connections with other girls and that she would feel weird taking him to meet her family when she’s not the only one. Again, that’s not how this show works. With that, she walks away from their conversation, returns and pretty much apologizes to him for overreacting for no reason. Joey tells her his fears of this whole thing and she decides to stay. Joey doesn’t give a rose for the group date, says he needs some more time and puts it off to the rose ceremony.
Kelsey A. has the second one on one date of the week. They start the date exploring the town and then do a polar plunge, which Kelsey gets all excited about. Joey seems very confident in his relationship with Kelsey, and I think she might be the front runner here. He gives her the rose and takes her to hometowns week.
Jesse says the cocktail party is cancelled and it’s right to the rose ceremony. Prior to the rose ceremony, Joey asks Maria to go chat first. He tells her that he likes her and going into the week didn’t have doubts going into the week, but that he still has fears of how this goes based off the last time they talked. She reassures him, which I don’t think really means a lot.
With the first rose, “Rachel, will you accept this rose?”. No surprise there.
And with the final rose of the evening to go to hometowns…
“Maria, will you accept this rose?”
Although I wanted the rose to go to Kelsey, it didn’t surprise me that he gave it to Maria. He clearly has pretty strong feelings for her to still keep her around despite of that uncertainty. I do think both Kelsey and Jenn will both do well in Paradise.
Daisy, Kelsey A., Rachel, and Maria are the final four going onto hometowns.
