NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/3/24

Finally a winning night for me on the NHL yesterday, being selective to go 2-1 and win 0.38 units. We’ll take it. Today we have a six game Sunday slate. Let’s make it two winning days in a row.

Capitals vs. Coyotes (1:00)

Pretty lousy matchup here. Neither of these teams have been all that great this season, but they’re both coming off wins on Friday. The Yotes ended their 14 game losing streak at my expense, with a 5-3 win in Ottawa. The Caps beat the Flyers in a game I’m glad I stayed off of. The first game between these teams was a blowout in Arizona with the Coyotes winning 6-0. I like the Caps to answer back with a win at home to start the day, I just don’t see enough of an edge to bet it. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll lay off this game entirely.

Kings vs. Devils (3:30)

This should be a fun afternoon matchup, although both of these teams have had plenty of struggles recently. LA won the first game between these teams 2-1 on the road in Jersey earlier this season. The Kings are the far better teams in this game, and I like them to win at home, likely in even easier fashion. I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.

Sabres vs. Jets (7:00)

Both of these teams are in the second half of back to backs, coming off wins last night. My Sabres are buzzing right now, playing their best hockey of the year, easily, with five wins in our last six games, coming off a big 7-2 win against Vegas last night. The Jets are a fantastic team though, and have been all season. The first game between these teams was close, with Winnipeg winning 3-2. They are still the much better team and I’d lean they get the win on the road in Buffalo tonight and I’d slightly lean the under, but I’ll stay off this game entirely. Let’s go Sabres!

Wild vs. Sharks (7:00)

Huge mismatch here. Although the Wild, who are on a three game losing streak, aren’t a great team, they’re far better than the Sharks, one of the worst teams in the NHL. The issue on this game is the price being so high at -350. I’ll take a shot here on Minnesota’s puck line for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.

Ducks vs. Canucks (8:00)

Huge mismatch in the Pacific. The Canucks, while in quite a slump, still lead the Western Conference and have been fantastic on both ends of the ice this year. The Ducks are coming off two wins in a row, but have been terrible this season. Vancouver won the first game between these teams 3-1 at home and I expect a similar result to get right on the road here. I’ll take the Canucks in regulation for half a unit.

Oilers vs. Penguins (9:00)

This isn’t a very exciting game by any means tonight. The Oilers have been awesome this season on both ends of the ice and come into tonight’s game on a three game win streak. The Penguins, although being good defensively have struggled to score all year. I like the Oilers to win this one at home with the far better offense. The price on the moneyline is a bit high at -190, so I’ll shave off some juice and take them in regulation for half a unit.
