Mini sweep of the NHL board for me yesterday, going 3-0 to win 1.5 units without a sweat for an 11-1 weekend (with the loss thanks to my Sabres). Tonight we have just a four game slate, let’s keep rolling!
Bruins vs. Blues (7:00)
Not a great matchup here between the 2019 Cup Finals opponents. The Bruins, coming off an easy 5-1 win against the Penguins are one of the top teams in the East while the Blues, coming off 4-0 shutout in NY for their third straight loss, are on a downward spiral. The first game between these teams in St. Louis needed overtime, with the B’s winning 4-3 on the road in January. I like them to win in easier fashion at home tonight and will take Boston in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under but not enough to bet it.
Rangers vs. Devils (7:00)
Not a great rivalry matchup here and I like the price on it quite a bit. The Devils fucking stink while the Rangers have been very good this season. The Rags are already 2-0 this season against Jersey, winning 5-3 and 5-1, both on the road. This game’s way too cheap. I’ll take the Rangers ML for half a unit along with their team total over 3.5 (with a + line on the price) for another half a unit. I’d lean the over on the game but not enough to bet it.
Jets vs. Capitals (7:30)
This isn’t a great cross conference matchup. The Jets are coming off a 5-0 shutout loss (double winner for me) against the Canucks on Saturday, but they’re playing great hockey right now. The Caps haven’t had a good season, but they’ve won three of their last four games. I still like Winnipeg to win here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit in regulation. I’d lean the under here, but with both teams trending over right now and the total at just 5.5, I’ll stay off it and just stick with the Jets.
Kings vs. Islanders (10:30)
Really interesting cross conference game to close out the night. Both of these teams have been hot lately. The Kings are comfortably in the playoffs and come into tonight’s game in pretty decent form, with a 10-5-1 record in their last 16 games, coming off a 4-1 loss to the Stars on Saturday. The Islanders are on fire, on a six game win streak, having passed the Red Wings on the tie breaker for the second Wild Card spot and just two points behind both the Lightning and the Flyers in a playoff spot after a 6-1 blowout (winner for me) against the Ducks last night. The Isles won the first game between these teams 3-2 at home in overtime back in December. I’d lean the Kings win this one at home with the Isles in the second half of a West coast back to back and really considered betting it, but I think the best move on this one is none at all. I’ll stay off this game completely.
