NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 3/13/24

Nice 3-0 sweep of the board for me on the NHL last night to win 1.5 units. Tonight we have just a quick four game slate, let’s make it our fourth winning night in the last five days!

Blues vs. Kings (7:30)

This matchup isn’t great to get the night started. These teams split their first two games this year, with the Kings winning 5-1 at home and the Blues answering back with a 4-3 home win in overtime. St. Louis ended a three game losing streak on Monday with a surprising 5-1 win in Boston. The Kings are playing really well on both ends of the ice, coming off a 3-0 shutout win against the Isles on Monday and I like them to win on the road here. I’ll take LA for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.

Jets vs. Predators (7:30)

Awesome Central Division matchup here! Both of these playoff teams are playing really well as of late and split their first two games, each winning at home, a 6-3 Jets win and 3-2 Preds win. The Predators are on a twelve game point streak coming off a crazy 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild where their former coach John Hynes pulled a hell of a move pulling the goalie in OT. The Jets are playing well too, just two points back from the Stars to lead the Central, coming off a 3-0 shutout win against the Caps. I expect this to be a close game, and would slightly lean the Jets win at home, but I don’t see any edge in betting it. I’d lean the under, but don’t think that’s worth it either at 5.5. I’ll stay off this game completely.

Oilers vs. Capitals (10:00)

This isn’t a great matchup by any means. Although the Caps are playing better lately and they’re still in the hunt trying to chase down a Wild Card spot, three points back from the Islanders. The Oilers are the far better team though in this game on both ends of the ice, and dominated the first game between these teams with a 5-0 shutout win on the road in November. I love Edmonton to get the win here, and I’ll take them for half a unit in regulation. I’d lean the under, and really considered betting it but not enough to do so.

Canucks vs. Avalanche (10:30)

Awesome matchup to close out the night. The Canucks lead the Western Conference, and coming into tonight’s game off a 5-0 shutout win against the Jets on Saturday (double winner for me), they’re on a four game win streak. The Avs are on a four game win streak as well, in the second half of a back to back after coming back from a 2-1 deficit in the first period with a dominant five goal period to be the Flames 6-2. Colorado won both previous games between these teams easily at home, winning 5-2 and 3-1. I’d lean the Canucks avoid the season sweep here and get the win on home ice to avoid the season sweep, I’d also slightly lean the over, but there’s no value in betting anything on this game.
