Losing night for me on the NHL last night, going 2-3 to lose 1.18 units. Tonight we have just two games, neither of which are great, before a huge Saturday of games tomorrow, let’s bounce back!
Jets vs. Ducks (8:00)
Pretty lousy mismatch in the West. The Jets, although coming off a 4-2 loss at home to the Preds on Wednesday, they’ve been a fantastic team, especially their elite defense and goaltending. They’re comfortably in third place in the Metro, two points back from the Avs and Stars. The Ducks are one of the worst teams in the NHL, and are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 2-0 shut out loss the Wild (winner for me) last night. Winnipeg won both previous games between these teams easily on the road, winning 4-2 and then 3-1. 5r hvThe Jets have backup Laurent Brossoit confirmed in goal tonight, giving Hellebuyck the night off, but I don’t think that matters, they’re the way better team here. I fully expect an easy Winnipeg win at home tonight for them to complete the season sweep. The moneyline at -375 and the regulation line at -220 are too expensive, but I’ll take the Jets puck line for half a unit. I’d very slightly lean the under, but that’s not a bet worth making at 5.5 by any means.
Blackhawks vs. Kings (8:30)
Huge mismatch here. Although the Blackhawks have three wins in their last four games, winning those games in high scoring blowouts, beating the Ducks 7-2, the Coyotes 7-4, and the Coyotes 5-2, they’re still the worst team in the NHL, the first team to get eliminated from playoff contention. They’ve been awful on both ends of the ice. The Kings are the far better team here and I love them to bounce back from their 3-1 loss in St. Lous on Wednesday with a win tonight on the road. I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but at 5.5, and with how awful the Hawks defense is, I’ll stay off the total.
