Solid winning night for me on the NHL with the big slate yesterday, going 7-2 to win 2.11 units. Tonight we have just a three game slate before the NHL stupidly goes up against March Madness with a huge slate tomorrow. Let’s win again!
Capitals vs. Maple Leafs (7:30)
Interesting matchup in the East here tonight. The Leafs, who are comfortably in third place in the Atlantic, come into tonight’s game in the second half of a back to back after two losses in a row. They fell 4-3 in Philly last night, unable to come back after they started off the game down 3-0. On the season Toronto’s offense has been very good, but their defense has been very inconsistent. The Caps are a point back from the Red Wings for the second Wild Card spot in the East, playing well right now. They come into tonight’s game on three game win streak after a 5-2 win in Calgary on Monday night. The Leafs won the first game between these teams easily back in October, winning 4-1 on the road in DC. Although they’re the better team here and I’d slightly lean they win, with Toronto in the second half of a back to back, I feel like the side on this game isn’t worth betting. I’d slightly lean the over, but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll stay off this game entirely.
Stars vs. Coyotes (8:00)
This quite the lousy Central Division mismatch here. The Stars have been very good this season. Coming off a big 4-1 win at home against LA, they’re two points back from the Jets and Avs to lead the division, and very comfortably in a playoff spot, playing quite well on both ends of the ice. After a huge slump, the Coyotes have since won three of their last five games, coming off two 4-1 wins in a row, at home against the Devils on Saturday and in Detroit on Thursday. They’ve struggled on both ends of the ice. The Stars won the first game between these teams at home in November, needing overtime for a 4-3 win. I like Dallas to win again here and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d very slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Kings vs. Wild (10:00)
Fun game to close out the night out West. Both of these teams are in the second half of back to backs, coming off cashing in easy bets for me to end last night’s slate. The Kings still hold a two point lead over Vegas for third place in the Pacific Division, and they’re playing decent hockey as of late. The Wild are rolling right now. Coming off a 4-0 shutout win in Anaheim last night, they’re now 6-0-2 in their last eight games, still on the outside looking in on the last Wild Card spot in the West. LA won the first game between these teams very easily back in October, with a 7-3 blowout on the road in Minnesota. The Kings are the better team here and I’d slightly lean they win tonight, but not enough to bet on them against a Wild team thats on fire. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it with both teams in the second half of back to backs.
