I crushed last night’s big NHL slate, going 6-2 to win 2.44 units. Great day! Tonight we have just a three game slate, let’s win again!
Blues vs. Blackhawks (8:00)
Pretty lousy Central Division matchup to start the night. The Blues are five points out from the only remaining Wild Card spot, but they’re not making the playoffs. They’re an average team, nothing special, and are coming off a 6-5 shootout win against the Ducks on Sunday. The Blackhawks, coming off a 4-0 shutout loss at home to the Wild have been one of the worst teams in the NHL this season. The Blues are 2-0 this year against Chicago, with a 4-2 win on the road in November, a 3-1 loss on the road in December, and then a 7-5 win at home later that month. St. Louis is the way better team here and I expect them to win on home ice. I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Oilers vs. Golden Knights (8:30)
Great matchup here in the Pacific Division between these two playoff teams for really the only solid game tonight. They’re both playing well right now and we could see these teams face each other in the first round depending on how the seeding in the West ends up. The Oilers are comfortably in second place in the Pacific and coming off a 4-2 win in Calgary in the Battle of Alberta on Saturday they come into tonight’s game with a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games. The Golden Knights are in the second Wild Card spot in the West and likely in the playoffs, more so playing for position, a point behind the Kings for third in the Pacific and three points behind the Preds for the second Wild Card. After a seven game point streak, they’ve since lost their last two games, coming off a 4-3 loss in Vancouver on Monday night, but they have a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games. The Knights are 1-0-1 this season against Edmonton, losing 5-4 in a shootout on the road in November and then winning 3-1 at home in February. Although I think if these teams meet in the playoffs, Vegas wins that series, I’d slightly lean the Oilers win this one at home. Not enough to bet it though. I do like the over in this game though, expecting both teams to score and I’ll take it at 6 for half a unit.
Canucks vs. Coyotes (10:30)
Not a great matchup in the West to close out the night. The Canucks lead the Pacific Division, but have been pretty inconsistent lately. Coming off a 4-3 win at home against the Golden Knights on Monday night, they’ve won three of their last seven games. The Coyotes stink this season and are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 5-0 shutout loss in Seattle last night. Vancouver’s won both previous games between these teams, winning both 2-1, at home in January and on the road a week ago. I like the Canucks to win again tonight at home to complete the season sweep and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit. I’d lean the under slightly, but not enough to bet it.
