Little bit of a loss for me on the NHL yesterday, going 7-4, but losing my two bigger plays to finish the night down 0.38 units. Today we have a four game Sunday slate to head into the last week of the regular season. Let’s find some wins!
Blues vs. Kraken (1:00)
This Western Conference matchup isn’t great to get Sunday started and going up against the Masters, I don’t think anyone’s gonna care. The Blues were eliminated from playoff contention on Friday night, but have played decent hockey lately with a 10-4-2 record in their last 16 games. The Kraken, who are on the second half of a back to back after a 3-1 loss in Dallas (easy win for me) last night, have been terrible this season. Both previous games between these teams needed overtime, with the Blues winning both, 2-1 in a shootout at home and 4-3 in OT on the road in January. I like St. Louis to complete the season sweep at home in this matinee and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Golden Knights vs. Avalanche (3:30)
Really solid playoff matchup in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights punched their ticket to the playoffs on Friday night with a 7-2 win against the Wild, ending a three game losing streak. The Avs are in the second half of a back to back, coming off getting crushed 7-0 by the Jets to fall to third in the Central last night, and they have just one win in their last four games. These teams split their two previous games, both shutouts at home, with the Golden Knights winning 7-0 in November and the Avalanche winning 3-0 in January. I’d slightly lean the Knights win here, but not enough to bet it. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Blackhawks vs. Hurricanes (6:00)
Huge mismatch here for this cross conference games, as you could tell by the -350 moneyline on the Hurricanes. The Blackhawks, coming off a 5-1 loss to the Preds on Friday, are one of the worst teams in the NHL. The Hurricanes have been fantastic, coming into tonight on a four game win streak after a 5-2 win against the Blues on Friday night and they’re just three points back from Rangers for the President’s Trophy lead. Carolina won the first game between these teams easily, with a 6-3 win in February. I expect another easy win and I’ll take the Canes puck line for a unit. I’d lean the under but not enough to bet it.
Flames vs. Coyotes (8:00)
Lousy Western Conference to end the night with two shitty teams here. I’m not touching this game. I’ll break it down more later if I feel like it.
