Last night Taylor gifted us with not just one, but two new album, making it a surprise double album that she described as a “lifeline” album—one that she “really needed” to make, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Following the release of the regular album a few minutes before midnight, at 2 AM she dropped The Anthology version, a full other album.
I rank my favorite songs on both of them from my initial listening to each:
Main Album:
- loml
- Fortnight
- But Daddy I Love Him
- The Tortured Poets Department
- Guilty as Sin?
- The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
- Fresh Out The Slammer
Overall INCREDIBLE album. Might even already be #2 or 3 for me behind Red and maybe Fearless. loml might already be her second best job as a songwriter behind All Too Well, which the ten minute version of I think is the best song ever written.
“I love you, it’s ruining my life” on Fortnight (and I’m not the biggest Post Malone fan but his addition to this song is perfection) might be one of my favorite lines of the whole album.
The Anthology Tracks:
- The Black Dog
- Imgonnagetyouback
- So High School
- thanK you aIMee
- I Hate It Here
- The Albatross
- Robin
- Peter
- The Bolter
thanK you aIMee being a Kim K diss track with the line “And one day, your kid comes home singin’ A song that only us two is gonna know is about you” cause North West is a Taylor fan. Fucking incredible.
Another masterpiece from Taylor Swift. Best songwriter on the planet and it isn’t even a question.
