NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 4/23/24

I had a slight loss on yesterday’s NHL Playoff games with the Bruins losing, but with the Canes roaring back with two goals in nine seconds, I ended the night going 2-3 to lose just 0.26 units and my series plays look nice. Tonight we have four more Game 2s. Let’s stay hot!

Game 2 – Rangers vs. Capitals (7:00)

As expected, the Rangers completely dominated the Capitals in Game 1 with a 4-1 win. New York’s a whole other level of team than the Caps and after seeing the first game, I like them to win this series even more, almost expecting a sweep more than a five game series win. The Capitals clearly don’t belong in the playoffs. The Rags outshot Washington 31-21 and didn’t even allow Ovechkin to have one shot on goal. I fully expect them to dominate again tonight in Game 2 at home. I thought about adding more to my prop for them to sweep, but at +240, I think the better move to add to my series plays is adding the Rangers to win it in five games or less at -155, which I’ll do for 2 units. The moneyline tonight at -290 is way too expensive, but I’ll take the Rangers in regulation for 2 units. I’d slightly lean the under, but I’ll stay off it.

Game 2 – Panthers vs. Lightning (7:30)

Game 1 of the Battle of Florida was a solid, competitive game. The Panthers were the clear cut better team in that game, controlling it in a low scoring matchup for most of the game. After Matthew Tkachuk scored the empty netter, a late push by Tampa, including a sick power play goal by Stammer with ten seconds left to ruin my puck line.  The Panthers outshot the Bolts 28-19 and were clearly the better team. While I do think the Lightning take a game or two at home, I like Florida to get a 2-0 lead on their way to winning this series. I’ll take them for a unit tonight. I’d lean the under, but I’ll lay off it tonight.

Game 2 – Jets vs. Avalanche (9:30)

The first game of this series on Sunday night was ELECTRIC, an incredible 7-6 win for the Jets at home with these teams trading goals with each team scoring three goals in the first and third periods. Insane and so much fun to watch. As we saw in that game, I think the Jets will exploit the poor goaltending for Colorado while the Avs offense continues to roll even against a fantastic goaltender in Hellebuyck. I feel like every game in this series might be a toss up and I really do think it goes seven games and every matchup will be a fun one, still having the slight edge to win the series with that goaltending and depth. I‘d very slightly lean the Avalanche tie this series up on the road tonight, but no chance I’m betting on it. I do think this one stays lower scoring than the 13 goals we saw Sunday night, but I still love the over again tonight and I’ll take the alternate over 6 here for 1.5 units.

Game 2 – Canucks vs. Predators (10:00)

On Sunday night, Game 1 of this series was a grind without a ton of action, with only 43 combined shots as the Preds outshot the Canucks 22-21 but lost 4-2 in a game that was closer than that. The Canucks scored twice in twelve seconds in the third to take the lead and then got an empty netter to cover the puck line. I’d still lean Vancouver is the better team in this matchup, but I’m glad I stayed off it. I’d lean the Canucks win here again tonight at home and would lean the under in this game, but I’ll stay off it entirely.
