Awesome night for me on the NHL last night, sweeping the board going 3-0 to win 4.5 units! Tonight we have a three game slate, let’s keep crushing this first round!
Last night the Preds tied up their series with a 4-1 win in Vancouver to take home ice in the series heading back to Smashville. The biggest fear for the Canucks going into the playoffs came true though, as they lost Thatcher Demko and he’s now out “week to week”. I don’t think Vancouver could win this series with Casey DeSmith between the pipes. Nashville is still -105 to win the series, and I think that’s worth a 1.5 unit bet, which I’ll add tonight.
Game 3 – Maple Leafs vs. Bruins (7:00)
This series shifts up to Toronto tied up 1-1 as the Leafs come off a 3-2 win in Game 2 to bounce back from getting the shit kicked out of them in a 5-1 loss in Game 1. We still don’t know why William Nylander missed both games in Boston and now this morning Auston Matthews wasn’t at morning skate. I still think the Bruins win this seres, and especially think they win one of these games in Toronto to take home ice back home for a tied 2-2 series when it goes back to Boston. I’d lean they answer back from Monday’s loss with a win tonight in Toronto, but the play I like better here is their team total over 2.5, which I’l take for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the over but not enough to bet on it.
Game 2 – Stars vs. Golden Knights (9:30)
Game 1 of this series on Monday was fantastic as the Golden Knights won 4-3 on the road. It felt like a very close game despite Vegas having a 4-2 lead for about half of the game, but the Stars outshot the Knights 29-15 in the loss and had some good chances to tie it up late. Mark Stone returned from LTIR on Monday as expected and very quickly made an impact, tipping in a shot from the guy that he cleared cap space for Noah Hanifin, to put Vegas on the board just 1:23 into the game on the power play. The other trade deadline acquisition, Tomas Hertl made an impact as well, scoring too on Hanifin’s second assist. I really think this series goes seven games and the winner of this series is my pick to win the Cup, hence why I have futures on both teams. I like the Stars to tie up this series tonight at home and I’ll take them for half a unit. I also like the over, which I’ll take at 5.5 (make sure you shop this) for half a unit as well.
Game 2 – Oilers vs. Kings (10:00)
Led by Zach Hyman’s hat trick and Connor McDavid’s five assists, the Oilers cruised to an easy 7-4 victory, dominating Game 1 of this series on Monday night. That game had a ton of action with Edmonton outshoot the Kings 45-37 and LA outhitting the Oilers in a very physical game, 65-45. The Oilers are the better team in this series and I think this one ends up finished in five, or at most six games. I’ll take the Oilers for a unit, laying the -192, and along with that I’ll go with half a unit on the puck line. I also love the Oilers team total, and was surprised it was only -115, which I’ll take for 1.5 units. I like the over on the game as well, which I’ll take for a unit.
