Last night with the Oilers collapse but the Panthers dominating, I went 1-2 on the NHL Playoffs, losing 0.37 units with Edmonton blowing a 4-1 lead. Tonight we have to bounce back on the Canes/Rangers and Stars/Avs series continuing! Let’s go!
The Oilers got out to a 4-1 lead more than halfway through the second period, but then they sat back and let the Canucks grind back to win 5-4. After taking that 4-1 lead, Edmonton went 23 minutes without a shot. That’s insane. I think they come out hot and still win this series pissed off with that pathetic performance and blown lead. Now down 1-0 in the series, we’re getting a much better price on the Oilers at -140 to advance. I’ll double down on my existing series bet and take them again for 3 units.
Game 3 – Hurricanes vs. Rangers (7:00)
The Hurricanes played great hockey in Game 2 of this series in MSG on Tuesday night and I thought they were the better team, but they took the loss 4-3 in double overtime, the longest game of the playoffs so far. They outshot the Rangers 57-39 and the game ended on a controversial power play, with Vinny Trocheck scoring the game winner 7:24 into 2OT. I still like the Canes to win this series and although I thought they’d steal a game in New York, a series doesn’t start until you lose at home. They’re in BIG trouble if they lose tonight but I don’t see that happening, and I’ll take Carolina to win in their own barn tonight for 2 units. I was on the under in both of the first two games, but I’m flipped that to the over for tonight for half a unit.
Game 2 – Stars vs. Avalanche (9:30)
Game 1 of this series was very entertaining. The Stars got off to a hot start with a 3-0 lead in the first period. The Avs made adjustments though, shutting out Dallas for the rest of the game, erasing that 3-0 deficit and then winning 4-3 in overtime on Miles Wood’s game winner. I was pretty impressed by the way the Avs got that win. There weren’t many shots in the game, as Colorado outshot the Stars 26-22. I’d expect the Stars to answer back tonight with a home at home. Can’t go down 2-0 at home in a series to a team that’s as dangerous offensively as the Avalanche are. I’ll take Dallas for half a unit. I like the over again too, which I’ll take for a unit.
