Losing night for me, going 2-5 to lose 1.42 units, a goal short on the Florida game and the Oilers falling short, hitting a bunch of posts in their loss to the Canucks. Tonight we could see a series come to an end and have a key game in Colorado. Let’s go!
Game 5 – Rangers vs. Hurricanes (7:00)
It was looking like despite playing relatively well that the Hurricanes were going to get swept and the Rangers would be moving on, but they avoided the sweep with a big 4-3 win in Game 4 at home with Brady Skjei scoring the game winner late to force Game 5 tonight. My hedge for my series bet on that game worked perfectly, as the Rangers cashed my team total over 2.5 in a loss, keeping my over 5.5 games prop alive going into Game 5 tonight. I don’t see Carolina winning again and I think this series ends tonight. The Rangers are just too good and I don’t see them losing two in a row. If Carolina wins here as is, I’d win 2 units on my series play. If they lose, I’m down 6.76 units including my future on the Canes to win the Cup, which is all but dead. I’m going to hedge exactly the same way I did in Game 5, hoping the Rangers hit their team total in a loss. I’ll take the Rangers team total over 2.5 for 5 units. I don’t see a way they win the game without scoring at least 3 goals. I’d lean the over on the game, but not enough to bet it.
Game 4 – Avalanche vs. Stars (9:30)
I was a bit surprised that with this series tied heading to Colorado that in Game 3, the Stars were the better team and got a 4-1 win on the road to take back home ice in this series, losing every play I had on that game. That was great though for my Stars future. The game was still closer than the final score though, with a 2-1 Dallas lead until 1:37 left in regulation, with two empty net goals to cap it off. I think these teams are going to continue to trade games in this series with it likely going seven games. I don’t see the Avs losing two in a row at home, where they’ve been fantastic all season and I like Colorado to win Game 4 tonight. I’ll take the Avalanche for a unit tonight. I like the over on this game once again too even though it didn’t have a chance in Game 3. I’ll take the alternate over 6 for a unit.
