My disaster of a second round for the NHL continued last night, getting reverse swept, 0-6, losing 10.16 units. Horrendous and pretty much even on the playoffs after an incredible first round. Tonight there’s just one game on the board with the Stars looking to advance against the Avs.
Game 5 – Stars vs. Avalanche (8:00)
The Avalanche are on the brink of elimination tonight with the Stars now leading this series 3-1 heading back home to Dallas for Game 5 tonight. Less than an hour before Game 4 on Monday night, the NHL announced that Avs scoring leader in these playoffs, Val Nichushkin failed a drug test and was suspended the next six month and will be out the rest of the playoffs. Colorado already doesn’t have great depth behind their super stars and being without Nichushkin’s a huge hit for their lineup. I probably would have completely stayed off that game if I had know the Nichushkin news ahead of time and ended up going 0-1-1 on it. The Stars came out hot and Colorado couldn’t get anything going, with Dallas outshooting the Avs 16-2 in the first period and 34-25 in the game on their way to a 5-1 win. This series is over. I don’t see Dallas losing this one at home. They’re still my pick to win the Cup, and I think after they get through this series, likely tonight, I think they cruise through the Western Conference Finals. I like Dallas to end it tonight and I’ll take them for 1.5 units, along with half a unit on the puck line and their team total over 3.5 at + money for a unit. There has to be a series that ends in five games. Let’s punch the ticket to the Western Conference Finals and advance this future! Go Stars!
