Finally a profitable night for me yesterday on the NHL Playoffs with the Panthers and Stars both advancing, going 3-4 to win 0.72 units. I’ll take it. Tonight we have Game 6 of the Oilers and Canucks. Let’s win!
Game 6 – Oilers vs. Canucks (8:00)
The Oilers lost me my series bet on them to win this in six games or less as they now find themselves a game away from elimination, coming back home to try to force a Game 7 as they’re down 3-2 in this series. I thought this series was going to be won by Edmonton in five or six games, but I was clearly wrong. Stuart Skinner was horrendous in goal and Cal Pickard replaced him in Game 4 and 5. After an incredible ending to Game 4 with the Oilers tying the series with a late Evan Bouchard goal with 39 seconds left in regulation following the Canucks tying it with just 1:41 left, the Canucks had some of the their own late game magic in Game 5. Vancouver was the better team through most of the game, shutting down Edmonton’s stars and got the win as J.T. Miller scored in the clutch with 33 seconds to go in regulation. I absolutely underestimated the Canucks in this series due to the goaltending, but it’s been fine. I’d think the Oilers should force Game 7 at home tonight, but the price on them at -195 is way too expensive for me to double down on them. I already have my series bet that could lose 2.8 units if Edmonton gets eliminated tonight, so I’ll hedge against it with 1.5 units on the Canucks team total over 2.5, so hopefully they score three goals in a loss, which is very plausible. I’d lean the over on the game but not enough to bet it.
