PLL Weekly Gambling Preview – Week 3 2024

With the Archers blowing a 14-7 lead going into the fourth quarter to lose 18-17 in overtime to the Outlaws in a very fun game, I ended last week going 2-2 to lose 0.24 units in the PLL last week in Charlotte. This week the league heads to Philly for the Waterdogs Homecoming. Let’s bounce back!

Cannons vs. Waterdogs (6/15 12:30)

The Waterdogs are coming off a bye week, coming off a 12-11 loss to the Archers to open the season in Week 1, falling short of the comeback in the rematch of last year’s championship. They started that game down 5-0, then 12-4 before scoring seven straight to end the game. The Cannons are 1-1 on the season. After getting trounced in a 19-12 loss to the Atlas in Week 1, they bounced back last week in Charlotte with a 13-9 win over the Whipsnakes. Through their two games this season, Boston’s averaging 12.5 goals per game and allowing an average of 14. These teams split their two games last season, with the Cannons winning 12-8 in the regular season and then the Waterdogs winning easily, 17-6 in the playoffs. I like Philly to win this one and I’ll take the Waterdogs for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Archers vs. Chaos (6/15 7:00)

This should be a pretty fun game. The Archers are 1-1 on the season. After almost blowing a huge lead in Week 1, but still winning 12-11 against the Waterdogs in a rematch of last year’s championship, last week they actually blew their huge lead. Up 14-7 going into the fourth quarter against the Outlaws, they melted down and went on to lose 18-17 in overtime in an incredible game to watch (despite losing my bet on them in dramatic fashion). The Archers have both scored an allowed an average of 14.5 goals per game. The Chaos are 2-1. They opened the season with a 16-11 win in Week 1 against the Outlaws, and split their homecoming week games, winning 12-11 against the Redwoods and then losing 15-12 to the Atlas. Carolina’s scored an average of 13.3 goals per game and have allowed an average of 12.3 per game. These teams played just once last season, with the Chaos winning 15-10 in Week 3. I like the Archers to bounce back from last week’s collapse with a win this week. I’ll take them for half a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll take for half a unit as well.

Redwoods vs. Atlas (6/16 12:30)

I don’t think this matchup’s great. The Atlas are an absolute force offensively so far this year in their 3-0 start to the season, completely dominating after their disappointing season last year. They started the year with two wins at home on opening weekend, 19-12 over the Cannons and 17-13 against the Whipsnakes, and then 15-12 last week against the Chaos. They’re averaging an impressive 17 goals per game and allowing an average of 12.3 per game. The Redwoods are 0-1, losing 12-11 last week to the Chaos after a Week 1 bye. Last year the Redwoods beat the Atlas both games they played, 13-12 in Week 1 and 12-7 in Week 11. I love the Atlas to answer back with a big win this game. The moneyline is a bit expensive at -238, but I’ll take them -2.5 for a unit. I like the over too, which I’ll take for half a unit.

Whipsnakes vs. Waterdogs (6/16 3:00)

This should be a pretty solid game to close out the weekend in Philly. The Whipsnakes are 2-0 to start the season, losing 17-13 to the Atlas in Week 1 and then 13-9 last week to the Cannons in Charlotte. The Waterdogs had their comeback fall short, losing 12-11 to the Archers in Week 1 in a rematch of last year’s championship. They started that game down 5-0, then 12-4 before scoring seven straight to end the game for a one goal loss. They had a bye last week before a doubleheader for their Homecoming this week. Coming into this weekend, these teams have both averaged 11 goals per game, but the Waterdogs defense and goaltending has been better, allowing an average of 12 goals per game, while the Whips have allowed an average of 15. Last season the Dogs went 2-0 against the Whipsnakes, winning 16-13 in Week 5 and then 15-12 in the Quarterfinals. I thought Maryland would’ve been slightly better coming into the year than they are right now, but I still like the Waterdogs, even in the second half of a back to back to get a win to close the weekend at home. I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
