NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 6/18/24

The Oilers put on a show in their Game 4 blowout 8-1 win on Saturday night to avoid elimination. I went 0-2, losing 2.5 units. Tonight the NHL Stanley Cup Finals shifts back to Florida as the Panthers look to bounce back and win the Cup, let’s end the season hot tonight!

Game 5 – Panthers vs. Oilers (8:00)

These teams will once again make the longest flight in Stanley Cup Finals history, as the Panthers couldn’t complete the sweep, getting blown out 8-1 in Edmonton in Game 4 on Saturday night. It was a very uncharacteristic game for Florida as they allowed the most goals in a game they have the entire season, by a significant margin. It just seemed like after the Oilers went up 3-1 in the first period, the Panthers pretty much just gave up on the game, expecting the series to go back home. Edmonton dominated, chasing Bobrovsky out of the net less than five minutes into the second period and having 15 of 18 Oilers forwards record at least a point in the win. The Oilers outshot the Panthers 35-33 and outplayed Florida by an expected goal rate of 4.94-2.49. As I said going into Game 4, I expected the Panthers to complete the sweep but if they didn’t I fully expected them to lift the Stanley Cup at home with an easy victory in Game 5 tonight. I’ll double down on my series bet on them with four units on the moneyline tonight. I’d slightly lean the under, but with this being an elimination game to end the season that I expect Florida to be up in during the third period, I’ll stay off the total here. Go Panthers!!!
