The drama’s already rolling in midseason form in Episode 2 of Jenn’s season of The Bachelorette

Last week Jenn’s season of The Bachelorette kicked off with a pretty boring first episode of the season (kind of as expected). The travel begins right away this season as surprisingly, Jenn and her guys are already heading right to Melbourne, Australia as the season really kicks off tonight with dates beginning!

Let the journey (and the drama) begin!

The first group date of the season begins with exploring the city, trying out different local foods. During the date, Devin pulls Jenn away from the group date and they get gelato tougher. That pisses the other guys off, especially Aaron (Noah’s brother), but that’s a pretty good move on his part. After that, Jenn and all the guys head to a stand up comedy show. All of the guys get ten minutes to come up with something to perform. During the night part of the date, Aaron pulls Devin aside to talk to him about the whole ice cream thing. Honestly, I think Aaron comes out as the whiny one here and don’t particularly think what Devin did was that bad. Devin does come off as cocky and douchy. While Aaron is talking to Jenn, Devin interrupts and brings Jenn ice cream. I mean, you had to know that was coming. Aaron seems way more unlikable than his brother was in Tayshia’s season. He then goes to interrupt Devin with Jenn, and Devin does the same again. Makes both of them look terrible. Jenn gives the group date rose to Grant, who didn’t overdo it and just worried about himself. Good move by her there.

Marcus, who I thought made a really good first impression on night one, gets the first one on one date of the season. Their date starts with going skydiving together, which Jenn’s very nervous about. When he was in the Army, Marcus did this before so that helps calm Jenn down. Very cool first date experience. At dinner afterwards, Marcus tells Jenn about his last deployment in Afghanistan and everything that happened there. Jenn appreciates him opening up and of course gives him the rose.

For the second group date, Jenn and her other group of guys do an Australian wildlife photoshoot in the outback with her choosing the best guy to have a one on one dinner with her. Hakeem is as Jenn says “unwell” (shout her Call Her Daddy) as the animal he gets assigned is a spider that he’s freaking out about in pretty hilarious fashion. Jenn freaks out about a big snake and Dylan steps up to help her conquer her fear. She chooses him of course to continue the date with him and do dinner with her. They connect during dinner and she gives him the rose.

Back at the house, Devin and Aaron once again talk about the night before. Aaron gives Devin a book about emotional intelligence the same way that the nerd in his brother’s season gave it to Noah in their two on one date. Clearly scripted work by the producers here, but funny.

Before the cocktail party, Sam says that when the eight guys that didn’t get the dinner on the second group date got back, they asked the others if they could get more time with her. Right away though as the cocktail party starts, of course Devin’s the first guy to pull her away. A bunch of the other guys are real pissed on that move, but the guy’s got balls, thats for sure. Almost reminds me of Shanae when she was the villain of her season of The Bachelor. Thomas N comes and rather than pulling Jenn away from Devin, pulls Devin away from her and calls him out, which she clearly hears all of. Thomas completely makes himself look like a fucking idiot with that move. Then when he sits there talking to Jenn after, he makes himself look even stupider as she calls him out for it. Devin walks outside to call out Thomas again and argue with him.

Onto the rose ceremony. Devin gets a rose, Aaron gets a rose, and with the final rose tonight…

“Thomas, will you accept this rose?”

The drama’s already rolling in midseason form here and I’m sure it’s going to continue to heat up. Solid entertainment with the Home Run Derby on the second TV tonight.
