What a twist to end tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette!

The drama for only being a few weeks into Jenn’s season of The Bachelorette is already wild. This week her and her remaining guys head to Auckland, New Zealand.

Sam M, the villain of the season, who I can’t stand, gets the first one on one of the week. They start their date at a restaurant at the top of a real tall tower and when the waiter asks them if they want to do a scenic sky jump off of it, that Jenn clearly doesn’t want to do, Sam makes the decision for both of them (as much as I don’t like the guy, obviously the producers are making him do that), which pisses her off. An annoyed Jenn agrees to just go for a walk up there and not jump. Jenn very much doesn’t want to do it while Sam does, and she isn’t happy about it whatsoever. He comforts her and she decides to do the jump. The jump does seem like a blast to do. At dinner, Jenn gets emotional about her previous relationships and how she felt like she wasn’t chosen. Sam comforts her and opens up about how his previous engagement ended because he found out that his ex-fiancee cheated on him. That conversation’s the first time all season he didn’t seem like a complete douchebag and actually is there for the right reasons. Jenn gives Sam the rose.

Of course with Sam getting the first date, Devin gets the second one on one. That leaves him and Sam alone in the house together while the rest of the guys are on the group date.

The group date is a rugby game with a New Zealand opening ceremony. Sam N makes it his show and plays the best, with the name Jenn’s Husband on the back of his jersey. He’s extremely cocky and acts like an asshole, pissing off all of the guys on the date. Such a weirdo. The guys call out Sam about how he was disrespectful to all of them cause he’s a child that’s on a complete roller coaster. Clown. After Thomas tries calling Sam out in private again, Sam then goes to interrupt Thomas and Jenn’s conversation, telling her that he doesn’t give a fuck about those guys. He tells her that he wants to take their relationship to the next step like he’s gonna propose or some shit and asks her “so Jenn, can I kiss you?” for his first kiss. What a fucking little dork. Clearly this kid’s not only never been in a relationship. How cringe. Jenn’s clearly creeped out and tells him she admires how open he is and how vulnerable he’s been with her, but that he doesn’t think she could get there with him. She walks him out. Thank god. Marcus, who got injured playing rugby and struggled with being open with Jenn on the latter portion of the date unexpectedly gets the group date rose. I like that move by her. Good for him.

Onto Devin’s one on one date with Jenn. They start with a spiritual date based in part of the culture of New Zealand. Afterwards at dinner, Devin opens up about his family and the dynamics with his parents. Jenn opens up to Devin about her lack of a relationship with her dad and the connections and similarities that her and Devin have. Although I wasn’t a fan of Devin to start this season, I am liking him more and more. He’s very clearly here for the right reasons and really likes Jenn. I feel like he’s gotta be the front runner of this season.

Devin, will you accept this rose?

Prior to the cocktail party, we cut to Jesse Palmer who says that a producer told him that someone from Jenn’s past flew to New Zealand “on his own dime” to have a conversation with Jenn and that they’re letting it play out and see what happens. That seems hard to believe that this dude didn’t get set up to be here by the producers. So this guy dated Jenn and they were on and off. Jenn’s shocked to see him. This guy Matt tells her that he’s ready to get engaged. She’s overwhelmed by the whole thing and he tells her that he loves her and asks to join her journey to prove to her his intentions. She clearly cares about him too. What a twist!
