Last week we got a really fun twist to end that episode of The Bachelorette, as one of Jenn’s exes, Matt, flew himself to New Zealand and asked her to join her journey to prove his love to her. Quite the fireworks.
Jenn reveals that Matt telling her that he’s in love with her was the first time a guy’s ever told her that, and she has the decision to make on if Matt is staying or going. Jenn starts the cocktail party by telling all of the guys about Matt and that she needs to talk to him. Obviously that’s a pretty big punch in the gut to all the rest of the guys. Jenn clearly still has strong feelings for Matt too. Instead of Jenn walking into the room with the guys, Matt does, tells them that Jenn feels like her future is in that room and apologizes before leaving. Jenn then comes in and tells the guys that Matt said all of the right things but they were coming from the wrong guys. The cocktail party gets cancelled and it’s right to the rose ceremony.
Onto the rose ceremony. With the final rose of the night…
“Austin, will you accept this rose?”
That sends home Thomas and John (I think that’s his name).
Jonathan, who last week played catch with Jenn since they both played lacrosse in college (I LOVED that), gets the first one on one date this week. They start the date with a helicopter ride and fly into a vineyard. As they get into a hot tub, Jonathan tells Jenn that his only fear is that their relationship needs to progress past a more friendly phase and into something deeper and more emotional. At dinner, Jonathan tells Jenn about his previous relationship and how his ex’s relationship emotionally came to an end and how it effected it. Jenn talks to him about how she understands that it could be tough to be trusting in a relationship after that. They connect more on their pasts, their families, and their previous experiences growing up.
“Jonathan, will you accept this rose?”
Through the date Jonathan kept referencing that he wanted that “rom com love” and the producers help them conclude the date with them kissing in the rain like it’s The Notebook. Cute.
For the group date Jenn and the guys start the date at a sheep farm. The guys have to get all of the sheep into their pen, which is pretty funny to watch. They do a horrendous job, not even opening the gate. After that they have to muck the poop out of a pen, cut the dingleberries off some sheep, and drinking fresh milk. Devin gets picked by the couple running the farm to get extra time with Jenn, which the other guys get jealous of. During the cocktail party that night, Austin tells Jenn that he feels like he’s playing catch up compared to the other guys and sends himself home. That surprises Jenn and scares her a bit that she might not be enough for some of the other guys. Jenn talks to a confessional about how despite how confident she feels on that she gets engaged, she’s still worried that she still ends up alone at the end of this and that there’s a possibility that no one chooses her. Jenn tells the rest of the guy her insecurities and how Austin leaving brought her feelings of that up. The guys all individually comfort those feelings for Jenn. Jenn thanks them all for it and doesn’t give out a group date rose.
After her emotional night, Grant gets the second group date of the week. They start the date horseback riding and have a great day. At night, Grant opens up about his dad being an addict and him not being trusting because his father always lied to him growing up. Jenn opens up about toxic past relationships that she had and they connect about what they want. She gives Grant the rose.
Before the cocktail party starts, Grant tells the guys that he feels like he’s falling in love with Jenn. That worries some of the other guys. Then Jenn comes in, tells them that how the guys helped with her vulnerability after the group date, doesn’t think it’s fair to have a cocktail party and sends us right to the rose ceremony.
Five roses for six guys. Sam gets the first rose, Devin gets the next, followed by Marcus. Figured those would easily be the first three. Jeremy gets the next one, leaving Spencer and Dylan as the final two left.
“Spencer, will you accept this rose?”
Figured that was coming as Dylan was the one that had the least amount of conversations with her and was the most shaken up about not having the cocktail party.
The emotions for Jenn and the guys really cranked up this week. It was nice having no drama this week too.
