Jenn Realizes How Insufferable Sam is Heading Into Hometowns Week on The Bachelorette

By the time I finished last night’s episode of The Bachelorette it was late and I just wanted to go to bed, so I’m publishing this in the morning when I get a few minutes.

Jenn’s already down to just seven guys left with hometowns coming up next week, so three guys are going home. To help give her advice, former Bachelorette, Charity comes to talk to Jenn quickly before the journey continues back in the United States as Jenn and the guys head to Seattle.

Right off the hop, Sam says he expects to go to hometowns and he plans to be selfish with time with Jenn. He’s insufferable to watch at this point.

Marcus gets the first one on one date of the week, his second of the season. For their date, they have a whole Wicked themed date that’s a big time advertising date for ABC. Kelsey and Daisy (the two finalists from Joey’s season of The Bachelor). Marcus and Jenn have to make choices between opposites. Lame date, but it gives them time to connect. The next part of the date, hosted by Charity, they go through some connections that make Marcus and Jenn open up more to each other about their families. Finally it finishes with Trista Sutter, the first Bachelorette, leading Jenn and Marcus to a hot air balloon ride. This did end up being a pretty cute date. The dinner part of the date is at T-Mobile Park where the Mariners play, at home plate. What a venue. Jenn’s worried going into the evening part of the date that she’s concerned that she’s farther into it than Marcus is and that he needs to open up to her. Marcus gets real deep and opens up to Jenn about how his parents essentially abandoned him and his sister, him being in foster care, and growing up. Very deep, sad shit to watch. Honestly super heartbreaking to listen to and it completely makes sense why he’s so hesitant to open up and be trusting. Jenn tells him how incredible it is for him to overcome that and how strong he is. She tells him he’s worth and gives him the rose.

More of the Bachelor Nation alumni make an appearance as Jason and Molly Mesnick help host the throwback radio station interview group date. Jenn starts the interview talking about his physical connection with Sam and the red flags she has. The guys get out on the hot seat. He’s such a douchebag and completely bombs the date. Jenn notices that it isn’t genuine. Sam gets chosen as needing the most time with Jenn and they ask each other questions. Sam makes it way worse for himself but talking about himself, telling her that he thought the Bachelorette was going to be Daisy or Maria, and bombing the whole thing even more. He’s so clearly full of bullshit that everyone sees. He doesn’t answer any of Jenn’s questions, just spewing nonsense to her. Jenn tells the guys in the evening person of the date that one of the conversations that day left something lacking for her, clearly Sam. Before we get to that though, Grant tells Jenn that he’s falling in love with her. Jenn also tells Devin that she’s falling to him. Clearly the other front runner with Marcus. Sam’s the last one to talk to Jenn as she says there’s something clearly missing there and that she needs answers and clarity from him. She asks him “why me?” and he obviously has no answer. He tells him “because I love you” and she gets frustrated and confused since he can’t back it up. Since it’s completely not genuine. Jenn doesn’t give a group date rose, pushing that decision to the rose ceremony.

Jeremy gets the last one on one date before hometowns, his first. They start their date exploring Seattle starting at the Pike Place Market. Their date seems fun and they have a great time. He asks as they sit down for drinks how the night before was for her which I thought was nice. At a beautiful dinner venue, Jenn and Jeremy open up more to each other, both openly talking about their religions and how they’d want to see their future kids grow up. Jenn says she wants to meet Jeremy’s family and asks,

“Will you accept this rose?“

Cute date to watch.

Before the rose ceremony, Jenn goes to talk to Sam. He immediately spews more bullshit to her saying catch phrases and shit, which she immediately says she doesn’t believe anything he says. When he has nothing else to say, he goes on the defensive and says that he’s been with other girls that have the same characteristics as Jenn and clearly shows that he doesn’t have any real connection. This is SO fucking cringe to watch. Words and words and words of absolutely nothing. After walking out with frustration, Jenn comes back to Sam, calls out the disconnect between them and sends him home. About fucking time.

Onto the rose ceremony with Devin, Spencer, Jonathan, and Grant. Just two roses remain to go to hometowns.

“Devin, will you accept this rose?”

Never any doubt that he was getting the first one tonight.

And with the final rose tonight…

“Jonathan, will you accept this rose”.

That’s who I figured was getting it.

Grant and Spencer pour their hearts to the confessionals about how they want to be chosen and find their person, including Spencer even calling his mom.

Other than how terrible Sam was to watch, honestly a great episode.

Right after tonight’s episode finished airing, ABC announced the next Bachelor via social media, Grant. I think that’s a pretty good pick.
