PLL Weekly Gambling Preview – Semifinals 2024

I broke even on last week’s PLL Quarterfinals, going 1-1. Today the final four teams head to Long Island for the Semifinals with a trip to the Championship next Sunday on the line. Let’s win!

Atlas vs. Whipsnakes (5:00)

Solid game here to start off the weekend. The Atlas have been spectacular this season, the 1 seed at 7-3 on the year. They closed the regular season with 13-12 loss in Salt Lake City to the Waterdogs. The New York offense has been insane this season, leading the league as they’ve scored an impressive average of 15.1 goals per game. Last week the 4 seed Whipsnakes picked up an 11-10 win against the Outlaws in a fantastic, very close game to advance to this week. Their offense has been very good as well this year, averaging 13.5 goals per game, the second most in the league. Both of these defenses haven’t been great, both allowing an average of 12.4 goals per game, tied for second most in the PLL. These teams played twice this season, splitting those matchups, with the Atlas winning 17-13 in Week 1 at home and the Whips answering with a 16-12 win in Week 4. I like the Atlas to win this game and advance to the first championship game in franchise history, and I’ll take them for a unit. I love the over even more though, which I’ll take for 1.5 units.

Archers vs. Chaos (7:30)

The defending champion 2 seed Archers look to make it to their second straight championship game with a win against the 6 seed Chaos this weekend after a bye through the first round last week. The Archers finished the regular season 6-4, ending it with a 13-12 win over the Redwoods in Utah in the last week of the regular season. Statistically they’ve been in the middle of the pack this season on both sides of the field, scoring an average of 12.9 goals per game, the third most in the league, and allowing an average of 12 per game, the third fewest in the league. Last week the Chaos, who have been the best defensive team in the league all season, allowing an average of just 11 goals per game, put on a defensive clinic in the quarterfinals, defeating the Cannons 8-4. Blaze Riorden made 15 saves in that win with an impressive 78.9% save percentage, allowing only four goals. The issue for the Chaos all season has been their offense though, scoring the fewest goals in the league, an average of just 10 goals per game. These teams split their two regular season games, with the Archers winning 9-7 in Week 3 and then the Chaos answering with a 15-14 win in Week 9. I like Utah to win this one, and I’ll take the Archers for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it at just 21.5.

Bets

1u Atlas ML (-145)

1.5u Atlas/Whipsnakes over 25.5 (-120)

.5u Archers ML (-166)

Record: 19-27 (-14.34 units)
