I started the season yesterday with a win as the Sabres and the Devils opened the year with the NHL Global Series in Prague. This morning they play again before the season really begins later this week! Let’s win again!
Sabres vs. Devils (10:00 AM)
Yesterday the Sabres opened the season with a 4-1 loss to the Devils in a lousy loss reminiscent of last year. This felt exactly like watching them last year. Jacob Markstrom was fantastic early in the game for the Devils, making what could be the save of the year and with sloppy defensive plays Buffalo got in a hole that they couldn’t climb out of. The second two periods the Sabres definitely played better, ending the game generating 3.49 expected goals to Jersey’s 2.71 and outshooting the Devils 31-23, but it was too late. I don’t really expect much of a difference today. In the second half of a back to back, especially overseas, although I’d lean the Devils win again, I’ll stay off the side in this game. With the likely goaltending matchup of Levi vs. Allen, I like the over in this game, which I’ll take at the alternate line of 6 for half a unit.
Game Bets
.5u Devils/Sabres over 6 (-140)
Record: 1-0 (+0.5 units)
