I split the Global Series games going 1-1 to start the season in Prague. Today the puck really drops on the NHL season with three solid matchups. Let’s win!!
Kraken vs. Blues (4:30)
Not a great matchup as both of these teams were pretty disappointing last year. I’d slightly lean the Kraken win at home and the over, but not enough to bet either, so I’ll stay off this game completely.
Panthers vs. Bruins (7:00)
Great Atlantic Division matchup here as the Panthers raise their Stanley Cup banner to the rafters against a team they’ve knocked out of the playoffs the last two years in the Bruins. Going into the season it looked like the Bruins were going to head into it with some goalie issues but on Sunday morning they finally signed Jeremy Swayman to a new deal. I do think the Bruins will have a solid season, but Florida’s the best team in the East again and I like them to get the win in this one at home to open the season. I’ll take the Panthers for half a unit. I’d lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Utah vs. Blackhawks (10:00)
Lousy game to end today’s slate with the Utah Hockey Club (formerly the Arizona Coyotes, RIP) making their NHL debut against one of the worst teams in the NHL last year. The Yotes sucked too last year and although I think both of these teams do improve this year, I don’t think it’ll be by much for either of these teams. I do like Utah to get a win for their first in franchise history though, and I’ll lay the -160 on them for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
