I split last night’s two plays on the NHL, losing 0.28 units. Today we have the first giant Saturday slate of the year, loaded with 13 games. Let’s crush it!!

Bruins vs. Kings (1:00)
Fun cross conference matchup to start the day. I like Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins to win at home in this matinee and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Sabres vs. Panthers (7:00)
The Sabres stink (although they did play much better against the Kings than they did in the first two games in Europe). I don’t see a way they beat the defending Cup Champs, who dominated them last year. I’ll take the Panthers for a unit.
Maple Leafs vs. Penguins (7:00)
I think the Leafs are the better team in this matchup and they should win it at home, but I don’t think they’re worth betting on at -200, so I’ll lay off this game.
Canadiens vs. Senators (7:00)
This is a pretty terrible matchup. I think the Sens are the better team here, but no shot I’m betting on this game.
Red Wings vs. Predators (7:00)
Solid game here although with a small sample size of one loss each, we haven’t really seen what either of these teams are capable of. I think the Predators are going to be the better team here and would lean they win on the road, but I don’t think there’s enough of an edge to bet them.
Rangers vs. Utah HC (7:00)
Utah’s been impressive offensively through their 2-0 start to the season, but the Rangers are the much better team here. I don’t think the moneyline at -210 is worth betting on, but I like New York to win this one at home in MSG and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit.
Capitals vs. Devils (7:00)
The Caps open their season at home tonight and I don’t have great expectations for this team this year. Last year they were the worst team in history to make the playoffs before getting swept by the Rangers in the first round. I feel like this will be a similar season again for them, just chasing Ovi’s goal record. I do think the 2-1 Devils are a very good team and I like them to win on the road here, and will take them for half a unit.
Stars vs. Islanders (8:00)
I like the Stars a lot in this matchup. I think they’re a fantastic team that will compete to win the West, where the Islanders are a mid tier, subpar team. Dallas should win this one at home and I’ll take them for half a unit.
Wild vs. Kraken (8:00)
This is such a boring matchup to me. I don’t think either of these teams are going to make the playoffs, but neither are horrible. I’d lean the Wild win this one at home, but not enough to bet on it.
Avalanche vs. Blue Jackets (9:00)
Huge mismatch as shown in the -340 moneyline for this game. The Avs took an 8-4 loss to the Golden Knights in their opener, and I expect them to dominate the Blue Jackets, who are one of the worst teams in the league in this bounce back spot. I’ll lay the -195 on Colorado in regulation for a unit.
Flames vs. Flyers (10:00)
I don’t think either of these teams are great, and they’re both coming off wins in their first game against Vancouver. With the Flyers in the second half of a back to back, I’d lean the Flames win at home, but I’m not touching this game.
Oilers vs. Blackhawks (10:00)
The Oilers looked like garbage in their season opener against the Jets, getting dominated in a 6-0 loss. Not great for the team that’s my preseason pick to win the Cup. They need to bounce back here against a terrible Blackhawks team, and I expect them to do so at home. I’ll take the Edmonton puck line for a unit.
Sharks vs. Ducks (10:00)
Both of these California teams blow. I think the Ducks are the better team here, but I’m not betting this matchup.
