I went 1-2 on yesterday’s smaller NHL slate, losing 0.87 units. Tonight we have a big nine game slate with some nice matchups. Let’s win and bounce back!
Lightning vs. Canucks (7:00)
Interesting matchup here. The Canucks have been a bit disappointing to start their year. The Lightning looked solid in their 4-1 win in Carolina to open the season and I’d lean they win this one at home, but not enough to bet it.
Capitals vs. Golden Knights (7:00)
The Golden Knight are my early pick to win the Stanley Cup now that I’ve seen how they’ve started the season. The Caps I don’t expect to be all that great this season and opened the season with a 5-3 loss to the Devils. I like Vegas to get the win here on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit.
Hurricanes vs. Devils (7:00)
Great matchup here between two Metro Division teams that should both make the playoffs. I got a little bit too cute on yesterday’s Devils game as I overthought the game and went with the over instead of the ML. Today with them on the second half of a back to back, I’d lean the Canes win this one, and considered the over again, but I think the best play on this game is none at all.
Blue Jackets vs. Panthers (7:00)
I know they beat the Avalanche on Saturday, but Columbus is still one of the worst teams in the league. Florida’s in the second half of a back to back on the road, coming off a 4-3 win in Boston yesterday afternoon. I like them to win this one though and I’ll take them for half a unit.
Blues vs. Wild (7:30)
I think both of these are mid tier teams that should both compete for a Wild Card, but likely both miss the playoffs. This matchup’s a complete toss up to me and I’ll stay off it.
Predators vs. Kraken (8:00)
Neither of these teams have had a great start to their seasons. I do think Nashville has the potential to be very good this year and I expect the Kraken to struggle. I like the Preds to win at home tonight and I’ll take them for half a unit.
Stars vs. Sharks (8:00)
Huge mismatch here. The Stars are one of the top five teams in the league in my opinion while the Sharks are one of the worst teams in the NHL. This should be an easy win for Dallas at home. The moneyline is way too expensive at -380, but I’ll take their puck line for half a unit.
Flames vs. Blackhawks (9:00)
Pretty lousy matchup. The Flames are off to a hot start to the year at 3-0, coming off a 4-1 win over the Oilers on the road. The Blackhawks, who are coming off a win against Edmonton as well, I expect to be pretty lousy again this year. I like Calgary to win this one at home and I’ll take them for half a unit.
Oilers vs. Flyers (10:00)
The Oilers were my preseason pick to win the Cup and through their first three games they’ve looked horrendous. The Flyers aren’t a great team but until I see some positives out of Edmonton, who I do think win tonight, I’m not betting them…especially at prices like -210.
