I won half a unit on my only bet yesterday on the Capitals easily with just one NHL game on the board. Tonight we have a solid nine game slate. Let’s win again!
Bruins vs. Stars (7:00)
Solid cross conference matchup. The Stars, coming off a shocking loss to my Sabres on Thursday have been very good to start their season where the Bruins have been a bit shaky. I’d lean Dallas bounces back here with a win on the road, but I don’t like them enough to bet it against Swayman at home. I’d also lean the under but the best play on this game is laying off it.
Maple Leafs vs. Blues (7:00)
I wouldn’t have expected this game to be a good matchup going into the season but with the way the Blues have started the year this could be a fun one. The Leafs just got smoked 6-2 by the Blue Jackets on Tuesday but I still think they’re the better team here and should beat St. Louis, but I don’t trust Toronto enough to bet them at the -230 price. I’ll lay off this one.
Red Wings vs. Devils (7:00)
Not the most exciting matchup here. The Red Wings are coming off two wins in a row but haven’t been all that impressive so far this year. The Devils are coming in off two losses, having just gotten pumped in an 8-5 loss to Tampa on Tuesday night at home. They’ll also get a bit of a boost with Luke Hughes and Brett Pesce getting inserted back into the lineup. I like Jersey to bounce back here and I’ll take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over slightly but I’m not betting it.
Lightning vs. Wild (7:00)
Both of these teams are off to very good starts and although I don’t see either going to the Cup, they should both make the playoffs. I’d lean the Lightning beat the Wild at home. I considered betting the alternate over in this game, but I think the better move is to just stay off it.
Rangers vs. Panthers (7:00)
This should be a great game between the two best teams in the Eastern Conference. I like the Rangers to continue their dominance so far this season and I’ll take them to win tonight at home in MSG.
Flames vs. Hurricanes (9:00)
The Flames have been impressive in their 5-0-1 start to the season when I expected them to suck this season. Carolina’s just 3-2 on the year but I do think the Canes are the far better team here. I like the Hurricanes to give Calgary their first regulation loss of the season here and I’ll take Carolina in regulation for half a unit.
Utah HC vs. Avalanche (9:00)
After their brutal start to the season, the Avs got things right with three straight wins coming into tonight against three kind of lousy teams. Utah was electric in their start to the season, but they’ve since cooled down a bit as they deal with injuries, with just one win in their last four games. I’d lean the Avs win this game and the over, but no shot I’m touching this game.
Kraken vs. Jets (10:00)
Not the most entertaining matchup out west. The Jets have opened the season as the best team in the NHL with a 6-0-0 record. This team’s surprisingly such a force right now. The Kraken have been a bit inconsistent. I like Winnipeg to keep winning and I’ll take them to extend the win streak to seven straight with a win on the road. I’ll take them for half a unit.
Kings vs. Sharks (10:30)
Lousy California matchup and the price on it at -270 makes sense. The Sharks are the worst team in the NHL this season and the Kings should beat them easily at home. I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit to bounce back from getting drummed by Vegas on Tuesday night.
