NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 10/26/24

Profitable night for me on the NHL yesterday, going 3-1 to win 0.88 units. Today we’ve got a giant 14 game slate, let’s crush it!

Sabres vs. Red Wings (1:00)

Fun game to start the day for my Sabres facing a bit of a struggling Red Wings team. I do think Detroit is better than us, but not quite enough to bet against my boys here at home in a day game. I’d also lean the over but I think the best move is just staying off this game.

Flyers vs. Wild (1:00)

Not a great game here. The Wild are off to a fantastic start to the year, not having lost in regulation yet this year. They’re playing great hockey while the Flyers have looked like one of the worst teams in the league. I like Minnesota to win on the road here and I’ll take them for half a unit.

Kings vs. Utah HC (4:00)

This game should be pretty fun for the mid afternoon matchup out West. Utah started off their season hot but have since won just one of their last five games. I’m not convinced that LA’s great, but they should win this one at home and I like the price enough to take them for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.

Bruins vs. Maple Leafs (7:00)

It’s always fun when these Atlantic Division rivals face each other. This game’s a complete toss up, but I’d slightly lean the Bruins win it. No shot I’m betting this matchup.

Canadiens vs. Blues (7:00)

I didn’t expect either of these teams to be all that good this season. The Blues have been decent where the Habs have played essentially as I expected them to. I like St. Louis to win this one and I’ll take them for half a unit on the road. I’d lean the over as well, but not enough to bet it.

Lightning vs. Capitals (7:00)

Interesting matchup here. The Lightning started their season really well, but have since cooled off a little bit with just one win in their last four games. I didn’t expect this year to be great for the Caps, but after their loss on opening night, they’ve since rattled off five straight wins. I do think Tampa’s the better team here and should win this one at home, but I don’t think they’re worth the -170. I do like the over though, which I’ll take at 6 for half a unit.

Rangers vs. Ducks (7:00)

Huge mismatch here and the -320 line on the Rags makes sense. The Rangers are a fantastic team while the Ducks are a bottom five team in the league. I love New York to bounce back from their 3-1 loss to the Panthers on Thursday night and I’ll take them to win in regulation for half a unit, laying the -180.

Flames vs. Jets (7:00)

Both of these teams are off to spectacular starts to their seasons. The Jets are the only undefeated team left through their 7-0 start to the year and have looked fantastic. I expected them to be a playoff team, but definitely wouldn’t have predicted them to start the season 7-0. The Flames have far exceeded my expectations in their 5-1-1 start, but I still don’t think they’re great. I like the Jets to stay undefeated and I’ll take them for half a unit.

Islanders vs. Panthers (7:30)

Not the most interesting matchup here. The Islanders started their season quite poorly, but have since gone 3-1-1 in their last five games, in the second half of a back to back tonight coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Devils last night for my only loss yesterday. Florida’s been solid despite dealing with a bunch of injuries and for the third year in a row I think they’re the best team in the East. Especially with the Isles in the second half of a back to back, I like the Panthers to win this one on the road. I’ll take Florida for half a unit.

Predators vs. Blue Jackets (8:00)

Pretty boring game here. Going into the season I thought the Predators would be a contender in the West but they started their season pretty lousy. They’ve since won their last two games and are starting to mesh together. The Blue Jackets have started a bit better than I thought they would but this still isn’t a good team. Even in the second half of a back to back, I like the Preds to win this one and I’ll take them for half a unit in regulation. I’d lean the over too, but rather just stick to Smashville.

Stars vs. Blackhawks (8:00)

Huge mismatch. The Stars are one of the best teams in the NHL while the Blackhawks are one of the worst. This should be a very easy win for Dallas at home. The price on the moneyline is way too expensive at -360, but I’ll take them on the puck line for half a unit.

Canucks vs. Penguins (10:00)

Interesting matchup here. The Canucks had a lousy start to their year, but they’re now on a three game win streak and have looked better. The Pens started off decent but come into tonight’s game on a four game losing streak, in the second half of a back to back after a 4-0 shutout loss in Edmonton last night. I like Vancouver to win this one at home tonight and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit.

Golden Knights vs. Sharks (10:00)

There’s really no luster to this rivalry anymore as this might be the biggest mismatch on the slate tonight, even with Vegas in the second half of a back to back after their comeback win against the Sens last night (double winner for me). The Sharks on the other hand are the worst team in the NHL. I like Vegas to win this one easily in the Fortress. I’ll take the puck line for a unit along with half a unit on their team total over 3.5

Kraken vs. Hurricanes (10:00)

Pretty fun cross conference matchup to close out the night. Both of these teams have played relatively well, but I think the Canes are the much better team here. I’ll take them to win on the road for half a unit. I’d lean the over but not enough to bet it.
