I had a really solid night on the NHL yesterday, going 9-4 to win 2.45 units for my second profitable day in a row. Tonight we have a four game slate, let’s make it three in a row!
Red Wings vs. Oilers (6:00)
Interesting cross conference matchup to get the night started. The Red Wings are in the second half of a back to back after a 5-3 loss in a matinee against my Sabres yesterday. That loss ended a three game losing streak for Detroit. The Oilers have improved after their lousy start to their year. I’d expect Edmonton to win this one on the road, especially with Detroit on the second half of a back to back, but no shot I’m laying the -240 on them. I do like the over though in this game, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Devils vs. Ducks (7:00)
Not a great game here. The Devils, after starting the season hot with some pretty high expectations from me have since dropped their last four games, coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders. The Ducks are in the second half of a back to back coming off a 2-1 loss to the Rangers on the road last night (winner for me) and have been a bottom five team this year. I like the Devils to get right quite a bit tonight and although the moneyline is too pricey at -315, but I’ll lay the -190 on them in regulation for a unit. I really like this spot for them. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Flyers vs. Canadiens (7:00)
Such a lousy matchup here with both of these teams in the second half of a back to back. Both of these teams stink but they both let me down yesterday as the Habs beat the Blues and the Flyers beat the Wild. I think Montreal’s the better team here but with Philly at home, there isn’t a chance I’m betting a side in this game. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll lay off this game completely.
Avalanche vs. Senators (9:00)
Fun game to close out the night in this cross conference matchup. After a terrible start tot the season, the Avs are rolling now, coming into tonight with four straight wins. The Sens have over exceeded expectations with their 4-3 record, coming off a 6-4 loss to Vegas on Friday night where they crumbled away in the third period. I’d lean Colorado wins this game at home, but not enough to bet it. I do like the over in this game though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Game Bets
.5u Oilers/Red Wings over 6.5 (-120)
1u Devils in regulation (-190)
.5u Avalanche/Senators over 6.5 (-125)
Futures
2u Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup (+1800)
Record: 55-41 (-3.18 units)
