I had another slightly profitable night on the NHL yesterday, making it a four day win streak as I went 4-4 to win 0.15 units as Utah’s pathetic collapse with less than five minutes left in the game was a pretty big swing for me. Tonight we have seven games, gotta keep winning!
Bruins vs. Flyers (7:00)
Not a great matchup here by any means. The Bruins haven’t been all that impressive to start their season, but the Flyers are a horrendous team, one of the worst in the NHL. This should be an easy win for Boston tonight at home and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it.
Canadiens vs. Kraken (7:00)
This is a pretty boring matchup to me. Although they’ve won their last two games, I don’t think the Habs are great. The Kraken, after a hot start are on a three game losing streak coming into tonight. I don’t think they’re a great team either, but I’d lean they win on the road here in Montreal tonight. I just don’t think they’re worth laying the -170 on. I do like the over though, which I’ll take for half a unit.
Senators vs. Blues (7:00)
This should be a really fun game between two mid tier teams that have slightly exceeded my expectations this season. I’d lean the Senators win this one at home, but I think its pretty close to a toss up that’s not worth betting. I do like the over though, expecting both teams to score, which I’ll take at 6 for a unit.
Islanders vs. Ducks (7:00)
What a shitty game. I’m not really sold on the Islanders. I know they’re playing a bit better as of late, but I just don’t think they’re a good team. The Ducks are a bottom five team in the NHL, and although I’d lean the Isles win this one at home, I think the price is way too inflated at around -250. I’d slightly lean the under, but I think the best move here is staying off it completely.
Penguins vs. Wild (7:00)
Interesting matchup and the price on this game doesn’t really make sense to me. The Penguins have been terrible so far in their 3-6-1 start to their season and they’re coming into tonight’s game on a five game losing streak. The Wild, who are coming off a 7-5 loss in Philly on Saturday afternoon that ended a four game win streak and seven game point steak to start the season, have been very good so far this year. I can’t understand why the Wild aren’t bigger favorites on the road here but I’ll take Minnesota for a unit.
Capitals vs. Rangers (7:30)
Both of these teams have been hot to start the season, setting up what should be a decent Metro Division game in a rematch of last year’s first round series where the Rags swept the Caps easily. The Capitals are playing better than I expected them to, but the Rangers are still the far better team in this matchup. I like them to win tonight on the road and I’ll take them for half a unit. Despite nothing to really back it up statistically, I’d lean the under here, but not enough to bet it.
Sharks vs. Kings (10:00)
Terrible California matchup here. Last night the Sharks came all the way from a 4-1 deficit to Utah with four minutes left in regulation, screwing me on a bet that I pretty much already cashed as they picked up their first win of the season in overtime. They’re still the worst team in the league though. LA hasn’t been all that impressive so far this season but they’re the way better team here. The Kings won the first game between these teams 3-2 last week, coasting after getting a 3-0 lead in the first period. I don’t see a shot that San Jose wins two nights in a row, especially coming off how they won last night. I’ll take the Kings in regulation for 1.5 units. I’d lean the under, but I’ll just stick to the Kings here with my biggest play of the season so far.
