NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 10/30/24

The Kings lazy effort last night losing to the Sharks ended my four day win streak on the NHL as I went 3-3 but lost 1.36 units. Tonight we have a solid six game slate to bounce back. Let’s go!

Blue Jackets vs. Islanders (7:00)

Interesting matchup for a lousy game. I don’t think either of these teams are good. They’re both easily missing the playoffs. The Blue Jackets though have become one of those teams that are a complete pain in the ass for better teams to play against. The Isles haven’t impressed me and although they’re the better team here, I’d slightly lean Columbus wins at home. I’d lean the over, but the best move on this game is staying completely off it, which I will.

Red Wings vs. Jets (7:30)

This should be a pretty fun game. The Red Wings are a mid tier team that should compete for a Wild Card spot and a quick first round exit from the playoffs. They come into tonight off two losses in a row after losing in OT to the Oilers on Sunday. The Jets have been the best team in the league to start off the season and finally took their first loss of the season at home against the Leafs on Monday, losing 6-4. I love the Jets to bounce back here with a win on the road and I’ll take them for a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll take for half a unit at 6.

Avalanche vs. Lightning (9:00)

Really fun matchup in a rematch of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final. Both of these teams have been very good lately. I’d slightly lean the Lightning win this game as they’ve been the more consistent team this season, but I don’t like it nearly enough to bet on with the Bolts on the road. Sometimes the best play on a game is nothing at all and although I’d lean the over, I’ll stay off this cross conference game.

Utah HC vs. Flames (9:30)

Interesting Western Conference game here. Utah fucked me so bad on Monday night, blowing a 4-1 lead with less than five minutes left in the game against the Sharks and then losing in OT (I had them in regulation anyway, so I’m glad SJ won once that game went to overtime). After their hot start to the season, they’re now on a four game losing streak to drop to 4-4-2 through their first ten games. The Flames started the season hot as well, where I thought they’d be a low tier team, but they now have just one win in their last five games. This game’s completely a toss up to me and although I’d slightly lean the over, there’s nothing statistically that backs up betting that, so I’ll stay off this game completely.

Kings vs. Golden Knights (10:00)

I don’t particularly think this ends up being a great playoff matchup between these two Pacific Division teams. Last night I stayed up till way too late watching the ridiculously lazy effort the Kings put in against the Sharks, taking a 4-2 loss to the worst team in the NHL, who were in the second half of a back to back. LA hasn’t been awful this year, but this is a lousy matchup for them. They’re now on the second half of a back to back and host the best team in the league, my pick to win the Cup. Coming off shutting out Calgary on Monday night in a 5-0 win, the Knights are my pick to win the Cup and have played incredible hockey on both ends of the ice. I like them to win here and I’ll follow up my biggest bet of the season last night on the Kings with the same thing against them tonight, and I’ll take Vegas for 1.5 units at a great price with them on the road. I’d slightly lean the over, but I’m not touching that.

Canucks vs. Devils (10:30)

All three Hughes brothers play in this fun cross conference game to close out the night and both Jack and Luke’s Devils and Quinn’s Canucks have been solid this season. Vancouver started the year on a three game losing streak, but have just one regulation loss this season, having a four game win streak come to an end on Monday night with a 4-3 OT loss to the Canes. After starting the season off hot, the Devils followed it up losing four straight before getting right on Sunday with a 6-2 win at home against the Ducks (easy win for me that I should’ve absolutely hammered). I’ll stay off the side in this game, but I like the over, which I’ll take for half a unit.
