NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 11/3/24

Solid night for me again yesterday, going 6-4-2 on the NHL, winning 1.49 units for my second winning night in a row. Today we have a loaded seven game Sunday slate to stupidly go up against the NFL. Let’s get some more wins!

Rangers vs. Islanders (1:00)

There’s no luster to this battle of New York to start the day off. The Rangers have been fantastic this season and look like they’re poised for an Eastern Conference Final appearance this year against Florida. They come into tonight off a 2-1 win over the Sens on Friday night bouncing back from losing to the Caps on Tuesday. The Islanders, who are coming off a 4-3 win against my Sabres in a sloppy game on Thursday have looked like shit this season. The Rags are the way better team here and I like them to win at home at MSG, and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under but not enough to bet it.

Jets vs. Lightning (3:00)

Spectacular cross conference matchup between two teams playing great hockey to start the year. I don’t think anyone thought that Winnipeg would be the best team in the NHL, but coming off a dominant 6-2 win in Columbus on Friday, they’re 10-1 on the season, playing fantastic on both ends of the ice. The Lightning are coming off a 5-3 loss in Minnesota on Friday that ended a three game win streak for them, but are still a very good team at 7-4. I feel like the Jets are the better team here and should win at home, but not enough to bet it. I’ll lay off the side in this game. I do like the over here though, which I’ll take for half a unit.

Bruins vs. Kraken (5:00)

Not the most interesting cross conference matchup here with both of these teams in the second half of back to backs, both in shutouts yesterday. The Bruins are coming off  a 3-0 win in Philly, which was a big win for them, their second win in their last seven games. They’ve been struggling on both ends of the ice this season though. The Kraken after starting their season hot have since just picked up one win in their last six, coming off getting shut out 3-0 in Ottawa last night. Since Korpisalo got the start yesterday, I’d expect Swayman in goal for the B’s and with that would lean they win at home tonight, but not enough to bet on them in the second half of a back to back. I’d also lean the under, but I’ll lay off this game completely.

Hurricanes vs. Capitals (5:00)

I’m expecting this to be an phenomenal Metro Division game here between two teams playing great hockey to start the year. The Canes are on a five game win streak to improve to 7-2 on the season, coming off shit pumping the Bruins 8-2 on Thursday night. I may have underestimated this team a bit, especially defensively. The Capitals look incredible as well, a huge underestimation by me for them. They’ve played some of the best offense in the league so far this year with an 8-2 start to the season. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a big 6-2 win against Columbus yesterday for their third straight big win. With Washington in the second half of a back to back and the better defense for the Canes, I’d lean Carolina wins this one at home but the price is so inflated on them at over -220. I actually see a ton of value in the Caps here, but I’m not betting this game. I’d slightly lean the over, but no way I’m touching the total either from a betting perspective.

Wild vs. Maple Leafs (6:00)

This should be a great cross conference matchup tonight. The Wild, coming off two 5-3 wins in a row, in Pittsburgh on Tuesday and at home against the Lightning on Friday, have been very good this season in their 7-1-2 start to the year. They’ve played very well on both ends of the ice. The Leafs are in the second half of a back to back tonight coming off a 4-2 loss in St. Louis against head coach Craig Berube’s former team. Toronto, as usual, has been very inconsistent. With the Maple Leafs on the second half of a back to back, I like Minnesota to win here at home and I’ll take them for half a unit.

Flames vs. Oilers (8:00)

We get another early Battle of Alberta on this Sunday slate with the biggest rivalry in hockey hidden behind Sunday Night Football. Nice scheduling Gary. Calgary started the year great, going 5-0-1 in their first six games. They then went on a four game losing streak that ended on Friday with a surprising 3-0 shutout win at home against the Devils. I’m still not sold on this team by any means though. The Oilers were my preseason pick to win the Cup this year after their impressive comeback in the finals last year fell short. That proved to not look like a great pick so far with their lousy start to the season. They have improved lately though, coming into tonight with three wins in their last four games, coming off a 5-1 win in Nashville on Friday, led by Leon Draisaitl’s two goals and assist. I still don’t trust the Oilers defensively, and without McDavid, who’s going to be out injured for the next few week’s they’re a tough team to figure out. The Flames won the first Battle of Alberta this season 4-1 on the road in Edmonton to start the year and although I’d lean the Oil tie up the season series, I’ll lay off this game.

Ducks vs. Blackhawks (8:00)

Terrible matchup here between two lousy teams. Both of these teams fucking blow. The Ducks are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss in Pittsburgh on Thursday night against another lousy teaming the Pens. They have just two wins in their last seven games and although their defense has been pretty good, their offense has been horrible, despite having some solid young offensive talent. The Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the league again, struggling on both ends of the ice. They’re in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a surprising 4-3 shootout win down the road in LA against their biggest rival to improve to 4-7-1 on the year. With Chicago in the second half of a back to back on the road, I’d lean Anaheim wins here but I’m not betting them. You don’t make money long term on these kind of shitty crapshoots. I’d slightly lean the under since neither of these teams can score, but I’m not touching this garbage matchup.
