NHL Daily Gambling Preview – 11/5/24

After taking a nice night off the NHL yesterday, tonight we have a huge eleven game slate. Let’s crush it for our fourth profitable day in a row!

Sabres vs. Senators (7:00)

This matchup isn’t great. My Sabres are on a three game losing streak, coming off a 2-1 loss in Detroit on Saturday night. They’re not playing good hockey really on either end of the ice this season. The Senators are 6-5 and playing above my expectations, especially offensively, coming off a 3-0 shutout win against the Kraken on Saturday. I like the Sens here to win on the road and I’ll bet against my boys in this one for half a unit. I like the over too, which I’ll take at 6 for half a unit as well.

Maple Leafs vs. Bruins (7:00)

Solid rivalry matchup here in the Atlantic Division between these two teams that went to overtime in Game 7 of the first round last year. The first matchup between these teams went to OT as well, with the Leafs getting their revenge in a 4-3 win. Both of these teams have been very inconsistent so far this season. With Auston Matthews out for Toronto, I’d slightly lean the Bruins answer back from that first loss with a win tonight, but not enough to bet it. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet it either. I’ll lay off this game entirely.

Canadiens vs. Flames (7:00)

Not a great cross conference matchup here by any means. The Habs have sucked this year and coming into this game they’re on a three game losing streak after a 3-1 loss in Pittsburgh on Saturday. They’ve struggled bad on both ends of the ice. The Flames had a hot start to the season but they’ve since come crashing down to expectations. They’re coming off a 4-2 loss in the Battle of Alberta on Sunday (without McDavid in the lineup for the Oilers) and have just one win in their last six games. I’d lean the Flames win on the road and the over in this game, but I’m not touching it.

Hurricanes vs. Flyers (7:00)

Huge mismatch for this Metro Division matchup tonight. The Hurricanes, who are on a six game win streak coming off a big 4-2 win against the Caps on Sunday, have been spectacular to start the season with an 8-2 record. They’re playing fantastic hockey on both ends of the ice. The Flyers haven’t been too bad lately with three wins in their last five games, coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Bruins on Saturday afternoon, but this team stinks. This should be an easy win for Carolina at home tonight and I’ll take them in regulation for a unit.

Islanders vs. Penguins (7:30)

This is a pretty shitty Metro game at the bottom of the division. Both of these teams blow. The Isles, coming off a 5-2 loss in the Battle of New York on Sunday afternoon have just one win in their last five games. The Pens are coming off two wins in a row, but those are against the Habs and Ducks, two of the worst teams in the league, ending a six game losing streak. I’d slightly lean the Isles win at home here, and would slightly lean the under, but no shot I’m betting this lousy matchup.

Blues vs. Lightning (8:00)

This should be a pretty fun cross conference matchup tonight. The Blues went on a bit of a lousy run, losing three in a row, but bounced back with a 4-2 win against Toronto on Saturday. The Lightning are coming off two losses in a row, losing 7-4 to the Jets on Sunday and 5-3 to the Wild on Friday, but have been very good this year. I like the Bolts to win this one and I’ll take Tampa for half a unit. I like the over as well, which I’ll take at 6 for half a unit.

Wild vs. Kings (8:00)

Interesting matchup here in the West. The Wild have been spectacular in their 8-1-2 start to the season. Coming off a “wild” finish to beat the Leafs 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, they’re on a three game win streak with seven wins in their last eight games. This teams way better than I expected them to be. The Kings are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 3-0 win in Nashville last night. They’ve been inconsistent in their 7-3-3 start but I do still think they’re a decent team. Especially with the Kings having played last night, I like Minnesota to win here and I’ll take them for a unit.

Jets vs. Utah HC (8:00)

This matchup isn’t the best. The Jets have been incredible to start the season with an 11-1 record, playing pretty much the best hockey in the league on both ends of the ice. They’ve put up at least six goals in each of their last three games, coming off an impressive 7-4 win at home against the Lightning on Sunday. Utah stated off their season decent but have come crashing down. They’re coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to Vegas (electric finish there) on Saturday and have just one win in their last six games. I like a few plays on this game. My favorite is the Jets team total over 3.5, which I’ll take for a unit. I’ll also go with the Jets in regulation for half a unit. I also like the over on the game, which I’ll take at 6 for a unit.

Avalanche vs. Kraken (9:00)

Going into the season I wouldn’t think this would be a great game, but it’s actually a pretty interesting matchup as neither of these teams have been great. They both come into tonight on three game losing streaks. The Avs have lost three straight 5-2 games, to the Preds, Lightning, and Blackhawks. They’re struggling, especially defensively. The Kraken are coming off getting shut out twice in a row, in Boston and Ottawa, and have just one win in their last seven games. The Avs won the first game between these teams 3-2 on the road a few weeks ago and should win again, but in no way are they worth the -185. I’d lean the over, but not enough to bet that either, so I’ll lay off this game completely.

Ducks vs. Canucks (10:00)

Pretty lousy Pacific Division matchup. The Ducks, coming off a 4-2 loss to the Blackhawks at home on Sunday, have been one of the worst teams in the league. They’ve won just one of their last five games. The Canucks had a lousy start to their season but have been decent since with a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games, coming off a crazy finish in San Jose on Saturday night. They gave up the game tying goal with 1:17 left in the third period, but cashed by regulation bet with 26 seconds left in regulation on Pius Suter’s game winner. I like Vancouver to win here and I’ll take them in regulation for half a unit. I’d slightly lean the under but I’m not touching it.

Sharks vs. Blue Jackets (10:30)

Terrible matchup to end the night. The Sharks are the worst team in the NHL. They went on a pretty shocking three game win streak which ended on Saturday with a crazy finish in their 3-2 loss to the Canucks. They tied it up with 1:17 left in the third before losing with 26 seconds left in the game. I didn’t expect the Blue Jackets to be great this year, but they’ve been a pain in the ass for teams to play against. They’re coming off two big losses in a row in Washington and against Winnipeg, but I like this spot as a bounce back for them. I’m not betting Columbus much this season, but I like them here and I’ll take them for half a unit. I like the over here, but couldn’t quite pull the trigger on it and trust San Jose to light the lamp a couple times, so I’ll stay off the total and just stick with the Jackets.
